Luxurious, Modern Signature Homes in Costa Rican Jungle
The signature homes of Kalia Modern Eco-Living are six sleek, ultramodern homes set incongruously in the jungle of Costa Rica's Nicoya peninsula. All clean lines and glass surfaces, the modish dwellings wouldn't seem out of place among the chic beach houses of Malibu. Instead, they look out on sweeping views of ocean and mountains, filled with tropical foliage and exotic wildlife.
Upon arriving at one of the three- or four-bedroom luxury signature homes—named Luna, Mariposa, Breeze, and Tierra—you'll find a huge deck outfitted with cushioned chairs for taking in the view and listening to howler monkeys belt out power ballads. Each home has its own private outdoor infinity pool and jacuzzi and features living and entertainment areas with state-of-the-art multimedia systems and a fully equipped kitchen. Organic cotton bedding, outdoor living spaces and laundry rooms, and air conditioning and ceiling fans are additional amenities available to guests.
Though all the buildings have a similarly open and contemporary design scheme, each has a distinct personality. The three-bedroom Tierra signature home, for instance, has a lush rooftop garden as well as a jacuzzi on the deck. Spacious and eco-conscious, each home provides a stylish retreat on a secluded, tropical hillside. With the help of its dedicated concierge team, Kalia provides assistance with pre-arrival arrangements, as well as personalized help in booking tours, answering questions, providing directions, and ensuring an enjoyable experience for guests.
Nosara, Costa Rica: Protected Beaches, Turtles, and Surfing
Situated on the eastern coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, the small town of Nosara remains almost entirely free of tourist resorts, noisy bars, and souvenir shops. Many of the roads are still unpaved, and the beaches have been left untouched in an effort to protect the population of leatherback sea turtles nesting on the sand. You can learn about and possibly see the turtles during a visit to Ostional Wildlife Refuge, the national reserve is devoted to preserving their habitat.
The Kalia signature homes are located about 7 miles from Nosara, allowing for easy trips into town to shop for fresh produce at one of the small markets or sample the local cuisine. You can take a zipline tour or nature hike through the jungle, or go surfing at the shore. Of the four principal beaches in the area, Playa Guiones is the most popular spot for hanging ten, thanks to its consistent breakers, surfeit of surf shops, and lack of giant, angry squid.
