Private Balconies Overlook Grenada’s Morne Rouge Bay
One of the West Indies’ southernmost islands, Grenada owes its name to a fit of homesickness. According to legend, the island's lush hills reminded Spanish sailors of Granada in Andalusia, Spain, so they named the island after the Spanish town. Near the southwestern tip of the island, Kalinago Beach Resort has its own origin story—"Kalinago" is the original name of the indigenous Carib people, and the hotel owner's great-grandmother was one of the few remaining Caribs.
