Days 1–4: Rome
As one USA Today writer put it, "There are great works of art at every turn in Rome." From the Colosseum's crumbling columns to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel frescoes, Rome is a wellspring of history and culture. Be sure to visit the Trevi Fountain—according to local lore, tossing a coin into the fountain over your left shoulder and with your right hand will ensure you'll return to Rome.
- Go sightseeing with the hop-on/hop-off tour of Rome, which takes you to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, and Rome's other iconic sights.
- St. Peter's Basilica: This 16th-century church—designed in part by Michelangelo—is both the world's largest church and the main church of Catholicism. Those spending a few hours here will see a bronze-trimmed altar, a statue of St. Peter, and a massive vaulted dome.
- See modern Roman art at Maxxi, Italy's first national museum dedicated to contemporary art.
Days 5–6: Florence
Surrounded by Tuscany's rolling green farmlands, Florence was at the heart of the Italian Renaissance; its museums and churches still display some of the world's most renowned art from that time period. WIth this deal, you can skip the line at the Uffizi Gallery, where works by Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and other Renaissance artists line the walls.
- See David: Michelangelo's marble pièce de résistance is the highlight at the Galleria dell'Accademia.
- Florence's best-kept secret is the Vasari Corridor, an elevated passageway that is lined with more than 1,000 paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
- Discover the city's heritage on the walking tour of Florence, which will take you to the Duomo cathedral to admire its imposing Gothic architecture
Day 7: Venice
You won't be distracted by honking car horns in the heart of Venice. Cars are off-limits here. Instead, transportation glides down the city's countless canals. A gondola ride along the Grand Canal is a great way to see the city's historical architecture ranging from Venetian-Byzantine to baroque.
- See priceless works of art by Jackson Pollock, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a modern-art museum located on the Grand Canal.
- St. Mark's Square: Scenes from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were filmed here, Venice's largest square
- Tour a historic palace: Venice's Gothic masterpiece, Doge's Palace, houses the Museo Dell'Opera and temporary exhibitions.
Days 8–9: Milan
After relaxing on your morning train to Milan, you can explore another kind of Italian art: fashion. At the Fidenza Village outlet mall, use your coupon to snag deals on Dolce & Gabbana and Versace, which are both based out of Milan.
- See The Last Supper: This da Vinci masterpiece is tucked inside the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
- Visit the Pinacoteca and Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan's oldest museum, to view priceless works by Titian and Caravaggio. The adjacent library houses Leonardo da Vinci's Codice Atlantico, a vast collection of drawings and notes.
- Window Shop in Milan's "Golden Triangle," which include the streets of Via Monte Napoleone and Via della Spiga. Here, small boutiques share space with world-class fashion designers.
