Days 1–4: Arrival and Rome

Your first stop is Rome, a treasure-trove of ancient history. After arriving on day 2, you’ll have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure. The Roman Forum, which served as the center of ancient Rome, is a good spot to begin. From here, you’re just a short walk from the Colosseum and Circo Massimo, a crumbling stone-and-marble arena that hosted chariot races in ancient times. You’ll take a hop on/hop off tour on day 3 and have time to explore on your own on day 4.

  • See the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, a sprawling square lined with open-air cafés and fountains, on the tour. Be sure to toss a coin into Trevi Fountain—legend has it that it’ll secure you a return trip to Rome.
  • Take the subway to reach attractions outside of the ancient city center, such as the Spanish Steps or the Vatican Museums, which house priceless works by Fra Angelico, Raphael, and Caravaggio.
  • Visit Villa Borghese with your included ticket. This ancient vineyard-turned-park has a massive public garden strewn with marble statues and several museums. Among them is the Museo e Galleria Borghese, where you’ll see artworks by Raphael, Titian, and Bernini.

Days 5 and 6: Florence

Florence is considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, due in part to one of its most famous residents, Michelangelo. On day 5, you’ll take a train to Florence. In the afternoon, you’ll have time to see Botticelli’s famous The Birth of Venus painting at the Uffizi Gallery. You won’t have to wait in line, either—as part of this deal, you’ll get a skip-the-line ticket to the gallery, which is also home to masterpieces by Michelangelo.

  • See Florence’s most famous sites on day 6’s walking tour, including the Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery of Saint John.
  • Piazzale Michelangelo: Set atop a hill, this public square might be the best place to get your picture taken in the city. From this vantage point, you can see the iconic red Duomo and the Tuscan hills.

Days 7–9: Venice and Departure

Venice has earned the nickname “La Serenissima,” or “the most serene,” and it’s easy to see why. No cars are allowed in the city, keeping it free of blaring horns and screeching tires. You’ll arrive here on day 7 with enough time to explore the cobblestone streets and medieval bridges on your own. The next day you’ll take a guided tour of Saint Mark’s Basilica, a lavish mixture of Italian and Byzantine architecture that’s more than 900 years old.

  • Ride a gondola through the Grand Canal to get a different view of Doge’s Palace and Saint Mark’s Basilica. But don’t just stick to this famous waterway—detour to other canals to glimpse quaint neighborhood churches and the Bridge of Sighs.
  • See a medieval shipyard: The Arsenale was was founded in 1104; it evolved into Europe’s largest industrial complex ahead of the Industrial Revolution. Today, you can tour the docks, shipyards, and armories, all of which lie behind the striking Porta Magna gateway.

I f this is a first trip to Istanbul Airport travelers should know that travel agents do not meet you inside of airport. You are told that they will be holding up signs and to be on schedule to meet them, but they are outside of building {in front}, not at baggage area. It is a great distance from baggage area to front of airport. Airport does not allow travel reps in airport.
