The lodge has lots of outdoor living space, including an open-air pavilion with barbecue pits and a spacious front porch furnished with wicker chairs. Guests can also take advantage of the outdoor pool on warmer days in late spring and summer.

Country chic accommodations: Upgraded deluxe rooms have granite bathroom countertops, LED lighting, and antique armoires, while standard rooms have more rustic touches, such as distressed wood beds.

Bastrop, Texas: Historic Small Town with a Recreational Lake
Established in 1832 by Stephen F. Austin—known as the Father of Texas—Bastrop has been called "The Most Historic Small Town in Texas." The town's rich history is most apparent in its historic downtown. Set right along the Colorado River, downtown Bastrop is lined with decades-old buildings that house local restaurants, shops, breweries, and government offices, such as the County Courthouse and Old County Jail (both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places). There are also more than 100 historic homes within a short walk, many of which have been painstakingly restored.
A few miles north of downtown lies Lake Bastrop. The 900-acre lake has excellent bass fishing, either from boats or from a pair of public fishing piers located on the southern and northern shores. Visitors can also fish in nearby Bastrop State Park, or explore the park on foot or bike via its scenic trails.
