Panoramic Views and Fine Dining on the Water in Boca Raton

The massive arms of a formidable drawbridge lift and part, allowing passage to a steady parade of gleaming yachts entering the Atlantic Ocean from Florida's Intracoastal Waterway. The drawbridge fronts the aptly named Boca Raton Bridge Hotel, perched on the shores of Lake Boca Raton. Being in the hotel can feel like floating on water, whether from the vantage point of a private balcony or the breezy pool deck. The maritime aura extends to Carmen’s, the property’s rooftop fine-dining restaurant, where curved floor-to-ceiling windows look out on sweeping open-water views.

Dining is one of the boutique hotel's primary draws. Sunday brunch at Carmen's is so popular that guests come from far and wide to quaff champagne and feast on a bountiful buffet encompassing custom omelets, shrimp scampi, herb-roasted prime rib, and waffles. The penthouse eatery serves contemporary American fare for dinner Wednesday–Saturday, when the space also hosts live music and wine tastings. The poolside restaurant Watercolors offers casual, creative fare such as red-velvet-like pancakes.

The 37-year-old hotel retains a fresh, modern vibe, with guestrooms decked out in bright colors and outfitted with flat-screen TVs. And dazzling water views can be found nearly everywhere you look, even in the tiny fitness center. Boat and waverunner rentals provide a convenient means of enjoying the liquid surroundings, and the beach lies within walking distance. The hotel provides guests with loaner beach chairs (in limited quantities) as well as all the necessary sandcastle zoning permits.

Boca Raton, Florida: Seaside Recreation and Urban Pursuits

Situated midway between Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, Boca Raton is a playground for sun worshippers, water lovers, and serious shoppers. Inspired in part by its seafront setting, much of the bustling community's architecture reflects the eclectic Mediterranean Revival style popular in the 1920s. Further inland, visitors can discover vast shopping malls, epicurean restaurants, and cosmopolitan arts institutions. The city maintains an ideal balance between urban pursuits and the beach, both of which can be experienced within a matter of minutes.
