$779 for a Four-Night Stay for One Aboard the weezer cruise with a One-Night Hotel Stay in Miami (Up to $1,305 Value)
Since the debut of The Blue Album in 1994, California rockers Weezer have dominated the alternative-rock scene, releasing eight influential albums, churning out hits such as “Buddy Holly,” “Island in the Sun,” “Beverly Hills,” and “Pork and Beans” and performing countless shows throughout the United States and around the world. From January 19–23, 2012, the triple-platinum quartet will tie pontoons to its amps and invite fans aboard the weezer cruise, a four-day voyage from the Port of Miami to Cozumel, Mexico. Each passenger will see Weezer play twice, once outside on the deck and once in the ship's indoor performance lounge, and the band will perform tracks from The Blue Album and Pinkerton as well as several hand-selected greatest hits. Nearly 20 artists fill out the schedule, including Dinosaur Jr., Ozma, and Wavves, and standup comedian Doug Benson will tape a live episode of his popular Doug Loves Movies podcast.
Aboard the Carnival Destiny, a three-deck-high water slide empties into the swimming pool, and the grand staircases of a massive, futuristic atrium lead to spas, sports bars, and the Millionaire's Club Casino. Though 24-hour room service and a casual buffet serve sandwiches, salads, and pizza throughout the day, guests can don their finest fake-tuxedo T-shirts for a gourmet meal in the formal dining room.
In addition to posing for a photograph with each passenger and conducting an exclusive Q&A session, Weezer joins the other performers in hosting a variety of onboard activities. On Friday, Rivers Cuomo reads from his book, The Pinkerton Diaries, and indie rockers The Antlers lead a belly-flop competition and electronic duo The Knocks oversees an epic flip-cup tournament. The weezer cruise will also forgo the casual dress code for several optional theme nights, such as an 80s prom night.
On Saturday, the Destiny stops in Cozumel, Mexico, where passengers can dip their toes into the beach's white sands, snorkel in the Palancar Reef, and explore the town's colorful marketplaces and open-air cafés. This Getaway includes a one-night stay in either a king or a two-double room at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay hotel on the night before departure, ideal for putting the finishing touches on a statue of Rivers Cuomo made entirely of discarded lottery tickets.
