Additionally, all rooms and villas have private balconies facing the ocean.

  • Stroll to the beach for swimming, sunbathing, kayaking and paddleboarding.
  • Rent a bicycle to explore more of Mayne Island; they are available at 50% discounts for Groupon guests.

  • Pick up beer and wine in the onsite liquor store.

Mayne Island, British Columbia: Hiking and Wildlife Watching in the Gulf Islands

The first thing you notice on the ferry to Mayne Island is the red-and-white lighthouse atop Georgia Point. It has marked the entrance to Active Pass since 1885; stand at its base for far-reaching views of the Strait of Georgia and to spot harbor seals and pods of orcas frolicking in the waters below. A few miles south of here lies Bennett Bay. In addition to having one of the island’s best swimming beaches, it’s a scenic spot to kayak and hike to Campbell Point for views of Mount Baker. You can get an even better view of the surrounding Gulf Islands from atop Mount Parke, the island’s highest point. The wooded trek to the 607-foot summit takes about 45 minutes.

Mayne Island is also a good jumping-off point for exploring the rest of the Gulf Islands. It lies right at the center of this group of six islands off the southwestern coast of Vancouver and is a hub of transportation between the islands. The Gulf Islands ferry system connects Mayne Island with all others in the chain—Pender, Saturna, Galiano, Salt Spring, and Gabriola Islands—as well as the much larger Vancouver Island.

The suite is very comfortable for a family of four. Judy the receptionist was very kind to us. The resort in general is very clean and has exceptional views. It is just what we needed with the challenging times we are dealing with (pandemic). Mayne Island and its people are the best.

The room was small but was adequate clean and comfortable. The view certainly made up for the small space.

This is our favorite place to get away! We love the history of the property and the character of the hotel, the cozy rooms, comphy beds, restaurant, pool table, ping pong, games room, hot tub, pool, and sauna. They have open mic night where locals sing and play in bands. But the best part is the atmosphere and how welcome they make you feel, not to mention, the view from each room is the same!
