Sun-Kissed Resort in Tranquil Caribbean Cove

Centuries ago, the northeasterly trade winds of the Atlantic Ocean carried British colonists to the sugar-rich islands of Antigua and Barbuda. The queen's tall ships have long since weighed anchor, but the breezes remain, propelling yachts and dinghies across the crystal-clear waters that lap the shores of Nonsuch Bay Resort.

The Georgian–style apartments import all the luxuries of home. Contemporary sofas and coffee tables rest on hardwood floors in the open living rooms, and french windows open onto covered verandas where you can dine on meals prepared in a fully equipped kitchen. Chef Mitchell Husbands of the resort's restaurant, The Bay @ Nonsuch, prepares plates of grilled lobster and beef tenderloin served on cascading terraces along the edge of a seaside bluff.

Though serenity is in no short supply throughout the landscaped gardens and secluded beaches, recreational activities abound at the resort. Snorkelers can journey just offshore to explore Green Island, but sailing claims top billing. Seasoned instructor Leslie Martin oversees a fleet of Hobie Cats, dinghies, and four-person keelboats rigged to tack and jibe a 2-square-mile bay protected by a barrier reef. The resort also offers kite-surfing lessons, taught by International Kiteboarding Organization-certified instructors.

Antigua and Barbuda: Cricket, Sailing, and Sunshine for All

Sailing dominates the culture of this small island nation, where mariners from around the world compete in first-class regattas and yacht races throughout the year. For landlubbers, cricket is the sport of choice. Many natives flock to the Antigua Recreation Ground, located in the country’s capital of St. John’s, to watch live matches that double as parliamentary votes of confidence. About 12 miles from the resort, English Harbour is home to a string of restaurants and wine bars near the former headquarters of Admiral Nelson’s fleet.

Beautiful resort - apartment was huge and clean - excellent view. Pools need ladders for easy in & out.

Love the accomodations, love the food in the restaurant, but maybe change the menu once or twice a week, and definitely add a free of charge shuttle to run into St. John's once a day. Perceived value would be enormous.
