Inn near Pacific Ocean Beaches and SeaWorld San Diego

Located about a block from the Pacific Ocean, PB Surf Beachside Inn is close to some of the best swimming and surfing spots in San Diego. It’s also just a few minutes from Mission Bay Park, a sheltered marine park lined with coves, beaches, and canals. The best way to see this scenery is by boat, but there are plenty of walking and biking paths nearby, too, with nice picnicking spots along the way. At its southern end is SeaWorld San Diego, where you can ride a tube-style raft through whitewater rapids or watch an orca show.

After a day of exploring the Southern California coastline, you can return to PB Surf Beachside Inn to relax in a spacious king or double-double room. Each one has a beachy vibe—there are ceiling fans with blades shaped like palm leaves, photographs of the Pacific Ocean on the walls, and flat-screen TVs sculpted out of sand. In the mornings, the inn sets out free continental breakfasts with pastries, muffins, coffee, and juices; for lunch and dinner, it’s an easy walk to various local restaurants.

San Diego: Historical Attractions and Electric Nightlife in Southern California

San Diego's sunny, comfortably warm weather and 70 miles of coastline have long attracted vacationing out-of-towners, but the city's inland scene is no slouch, either. The Gaslamp Quarter is arguably one of the trendiest listings on the National Register of Historic Places. The area forms both the historic center of town and a hub of San Diego nightlife, with nearly 100 Victorian-era buildings now occupied by high-end boutiques, jewelers, and gourmet restaurants.

During the day, a stroll through iconic Balboa Park takes you past 17 separate museums, as well as the world-famous and much beloved San Diego Zoo. There's also the vibrant Spanish Village Art Center, a living gallery where local artists continuously produce pottery, handblown glass, and oil paintings for sale.

Farther north, in Old Town—site of the first European settlement in California—shops in Mission-style stucco buildings sell colorful wrestling masks, woven baskets, and maracas. Nearby stands The Whaley House Museum, dubbed one of the Most Terrifying Places in America by the Travel Channel. Ghosts of former residents are said to inhabit the rooms, which are filled with Victorian furniture, eerie dolls, and squeegees for ectoplasm cleanup.

The room was fine. Two of us shared a room with two queen beds & it was a pretty small. However, we did have issues with the shower. If we wanted any pressure at all, it had to be turned all the way to the left, which made it scalding hot. If we didn’t want it scalding hot, we had no pressure & the water barely came out. Location was great though, very easy walk to beach. Staff was nice too.
