Lebanon, Missouri: White Ribbon Trout Fishing on Route 66
A stop on historic U.S. Route 66, Lebanon sits in central Missouri, 60 miles from Springfield. The water is unique here in many ways: in 1889, a construction worker on the city’s well discovered that the water inside had magnetic properties. Magnetic water is said to have healing effects, and the worker’s discovery soon drew in many visitors to the town.
Meanwhile, in Bennett Spring State Park just outside town, there is White-Ribbon trout fishing, meaning they can be fished year round. Lebanon has particularly good fishing in March, however—thousands of trout hunters come here for the opening of the season.
