Lake-View Rooms near Tahoe Ski Resorts

Named America’s best lake by USA Today in 2012, Lake Tahoe draws visitors not only for its breathtaking scenery (the Sierra Nevadas form a ring around the lake), but also for the skiing, snowshoeing, and snow tubing that takes place in the lake's surrounding mountains. Set on a private white-sand beach, Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge & Spa provides premier access to Tahoe's ski resorts, and it’s the only south-shore hotel with lake views from every room. From here, you're only two miles from Heavenly Ski Resort, ranked the United States' most-scenic resort by Ski magazine.

Every room at Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge & Spa overlooks the lake, and each has a private balcony or patio to enjoy the view. Inside newly renovated lake-view single-queen rooms, knotty-pine furnishings and gas-burning fireplaces create warm welcomes. Mountain decor such as table lamps with black-bear figurines and western-inspired wall tapestries adds to the rooms’ rustic style.

While the lodge's proximity to Heavenly Ski Resort makes it a popular destination, visitors also have their pick of six other ski resorts in the Tahoe area. And if you’re in need of a recharge, head to the lodge's Elements Spa for a massage, body wrap, or facial.

South Lake Tahoe, California: Year-Round Haven for Outdoor Adventures and Late-Night Revelry

Lake Tahoe has no real off-season; people find ways to make use of its pristine water, beaches, and mountains all year long. In the summer, the lake's clear, freshwater surface—which straddles the California-Nevada border—is dotted with swimmers, boaters, and jet skiers. Nearby, Emerald Bay State Park is also accessible year-round with a moderately easy hike to the base of Lower Eagle Falls, which reveals breathtaking views of the waterfalls crashing down from above.

In the winter, this area claims one of North America’s largest concentrations of ski resorts. In addition to Heavenly Ski Resort, there's Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games, which has 4,000 acres of skiable terrain spread across six peaks. Some prefer the more low-key atmosphere of Alpine Meadows, which has about half the acreage but a little more elbowroom.

A diverse crowd of spectators gathers at night for South Lake Tahoe's various events, which range from wine and food festivals to rock concerts and fireworks displays. A few miles northwest of South Lake Tahoe sits Stateline, Nevada, where a handful of casinos host high-stakes games of blackjack and solitaire.

Customer Reviews

Loved the rustic furnishings throughout. Comfortable and warm feeling!
Deva C. · March 16, 2014
This lodge was exceptional. They offered hot chocolate in the lobby, which was great because I have a 5 year old. Also, coffee maker in the room. Also, the temperatures drop at night & they had a gas fireplace in the room we stayed. Very cozy, the view was amazing & there is a quiet time from 10pm to 7 am I believe. Wish we could've stayed longer at the lodge. Also, there a volleyball net outside!
