Major management issues here. Lots of additional costs/fees after you purchase your Groupon. Food was often mediocre at best. Entire resort had food poisoning v GI virus at one point which was horrible. Bikes on island all have flat tires. Our room didn’t have any working A/C so difficult to sleep as very stuffy. Buyer beware.

Thatch Caye Resort lies within the South Water Caye Marine Reserve, a protected area that encompasses a range of coastal and marine habitats such as littoral forests, seagrass beds, and mangroves. The island is near the Belize Barrier Reef, which Jacques Cousteau once referred to as “one of the four must-dive locations on this blue planet.”

The region is home to several turtle species and other aquatic animals. You can easily explore the reserve by kayaking to nearby cays. Another highlight is the bird sanctuary at Man-O-War Caye, an expansive nesting site for the brown booby and magnificent frigate bird.

1. What is the best way to travel to the hotel from the airport? The best airport to fly in/out of is Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE). The property recommends arriving in Belize City before 3:30 p.m. Round-trip flights from BZE to Dangriga Airport (DGA) are available for $195 per person. An upgrade to the the rest and relaxation package is available for an additional $150 per person per night, which covers airport transfers to and from Dangriga and all meals and local beverages.

2. Is there an additional occupancy fee, or do I have to purchase another Groupon? The Groupon covers two guests. Additional guests are not permitted.

Wouldn’t refund original $200 after I cancelled THE SAME DAY of purchase after being informed there’d be additional costs of $460 just to get onto the resort from the mainland. Before 30 days refund policy should be voided because I booked the getaway within 30days of my booking date..

If you think you are getting the all inclusive, make sure you search for the one that says all inclusive not room only. They need to fix the wording because an additional 150 pp per night for just food and transportation is not a deal
