Hotel at a Glance: The Edenfield House

The Edenfield House dates back to 1895, when it was constructed as a private residence. The Edenfields—a locally prestigious family for whom the inn is named—moved in shortly after 1900 and lived there until the mid-20th century. In the early 1980s, Jim and Imogene Buckley purchased the house, restored it, and opened it as a bed and breakfast. Today, guests will find crystal chandeliers, 12-foot ceilings, original trim, and gilded mirrors.

  • If these walls could talk: The property’s 10 murals were hand painted by an unknown artist in the Works Progress Administration during FDR’s presidency.
  • Notable award: The inn earned the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2014.
  • Head to the parlor to read a book or catch a show on the 82-inch TV.
  • Catch some rays in the sunroom, where two original, 19th-century fluted corinthian columns still stand.
  • Enjoy complimentary breakfast in the dining room.
  • Take a stroll: The inn is just seven blocks from downtown Swainsboro’s Patriot Square.
