Resort Teeming with Wildlife on Forested Hilltop
The Falls Resort in Costa Rica is almost a natural zoo, a place where squirrel monkeys, lizards, and toucans live in the fruit trees that spread across its property. The resort’s tropical gardens contain a variety of plant varieties, and you’ll see butterflies and hummingbirds buzzing around the orchids and herbs. Perched on a hilltop overlooking Manuel Antonio National Park, The Falls Resort gives guests a front row view of lush forests and picturesque small waterfalls. A short distance away are the white-sand beaches along the Pacific Ocean, where dolphins and pods of migratory whales occasionally swim by.
Included in the deal is a half-day zipline canopy tour, where you’ll use a harness and swing to fly between the treetops of inland mountains. Other activities offered through the resort include a visit to a rainforest spice plantation and a guided hike through Manuel Antonio National Park.
Aside from the eco-adventures, you can relax in the resort’s pool, unwind on the hammock that’s strung up outside each standard suite, or take in the scenery on the deluxe suite's covered porch. Inside the rooms, handmade laurel- and almond-wood doors and ceilings complement the natural surroundings. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the onsite Falls Garden Café, which specializes in Costa Rican seafood that the chef personally selects from local fisherman every morning.
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica: Eco-Friendly Outdoor Adventures
Manuel Antonio lies on Costa Rica's west coast, framed by white-sand beaches and the biologically diverse ecosystem within Manuel Antonio National Park. Wildlife and verdant rainforest line the countryside here, so it's a popular place to explore the park’s natural habitats or go beachcombing. You can also take guided and independent tours through the rainforest foliage on an ATV, zipline, or caffeinated two-toed sloth. For a taste of Costa Rican nightlife, visit the nearby town of Quepos, which buzzes with live music. During the day, the town’s vendors sell local delicacies and handmade wares at the local market.
