  • Outdoor activities abound in the Northwoods including 300 miles of ATV trails and fishing for small mouth bass; whitewater rafting is included with one of this getaway’s options
  • The Four Seasons Steakhouse serves prime cuts of meat as well as seafood and pasta.
  • Head to Lillies, the vintage ice-cream shop onsite, for classic treats such as banana splits and hot-fudge sundaes.

  • The resort has been open for more than 100 years and was the rumored retreat of Chicago mobster Al Capone.

Pembine, Wisconsin: Waterfall Capital of the Northwoods

Pembine is tucked away in the Northwoods, about 80 miles north of Green Bay. It's a quiet, secluded little town. In winter, the forest becomes a playground for snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers. In summer, you can go fishing for smallmouth bass in the Menominee River. The Menominee feeds into some beautiful waterfalls, earning the region the nickname “Waterfall Capital of Wisconsin.” The falls are surrounded by hiking trails and are easy to find—and many have parking nearby.

If being able to say you can vacation on an island isn't enough, there are many reasons why Four Seasons Island Resort is a must to visit. The mystique of the resort's attraction to gangsters back in the Capone days, classic motorcycles throughout the resort, classic car that greets you at the front door, blue collar bar Boundary Waters downstairs, the upscale Lounge upstairs along with the steakhouse, golf course always in terrific shape, amazing suites, and last but not least, the staff is exceptional.
