West Yarmouth, Massachusetts: Historical Sites and Maritime Adventure

West Yarmouth, on the southern shore of the mid-Cape region, is one of three seaside villages that make up the larger town of Yarmouth. English settlers began colonizing the area in the mid-17th century, and historical traces are still visible. Mills dot the countryside, and coastal bluffs are festooned with lighthouses including the privately owned Point Gammon Lighthouse and the Sandy Neck Lighthouse. Waterfront restaurants and upscale boutiques can be found throughout West Yarmouth, and 20 golf courses lie within a 20-minute drive.

Take to the National Seashore to explore 40 miles of beaches, marshes, and uplands abounding with wildlife. The seashore became a nationally protected area in 1961 at the direction of President John F. Kennedy.

It was fine. Room was clean and safe, though we had to change rooms after check-in cause room was not made. Hotel requires upkeep- pool requires, screen doors falling off tracks. (Girls) Front desk were regularly on their phones when we approached, and seemed quite unfriendly. Breakfast was passable, but left much to be desired. Plenty of parking, and outdoor sitting space. Walking distance to some restaurants and short drive to a few beaches. It was ok- met our needs for the price.

Do not under any circumstances come to this hotel. I do not under any circumstances recommend staying at this hotel, the staff is very friendly always doing their job and cleaning, but when it comes to the hotel itself, it gets rough. To start off on a good note, the beds were pretty comfy and pretty clean. The breakfast didn't have so many options, but was still decent. The indoor pool was very clean, so was the hot tub, and both were enjoyable. The outdoor pool was very dirty and didn't seem like it had been clean in a long time. Now, when we first walked into our room it smelled strongly of a gym locker room and urine combined. The screen on the slider door had many holes in it and was completely off its tract, oddly, I left a bathing suit hanging up in the toilet/shower area and it never dried in the 5 days that we stayed there. The T.V somewhat worked, but every time we watched something, every 5 minutes it would change to scenery. Our door continuously got stuck and we could not open it until the front desk used their key to open it themselves. My family and I tried out the put-put golf area and they chose to put it on not so flat ground. It seems like the whole course was on a tilt and was very very bumpy.

Find another hotel I would not recommend this hotel. For the money I am appalled. To me it’s a $50 night hotel. I stay in hotels around the country as I travel for work and this is probably one of the worst I’ve been in. The rugs are so afraid I’ve tripped on the door Rug twice now. Some one put garbage by the outside door, which I fell over last night as I couldn’t see it, however that same garbage was still there 7 o’clock the next morning. The bathroom is so tiny. It’s hard to be able to maneuver. Just to get to the toilet paper you have to close the door because the toilet paper is hidden behind the door and if you do that, there’s a chance that you’re going to brush your legs on the door as you’re trying to close it to get to the toilet paper. Such a tiny tiny bathroom. The faucets are standard with the red dot and the blue dot for which direction to turn for the temperature. I spent 10 minutes last night, trying to get hot water only to find that the faucets are reversed. The room is dirty. I itched all night long and am still itching this morning. There were black spider type of bugs on the white room curtains when I checked in last night. I don’t know if there is spider eggs in the room or what but I itched all night long. When I went to put my medicine in the refrigerator, I had water come out all over. For whatever reason there was nothing but loose water in the refrigerator. No microwave to even make something to snack on. The ironing board cover is filthy and had bugs on the top of it. It’s not in the closet. It’s just sitting out in the room so you couldn’t miss it. The entire hotel needs to shut down and totally renovate before they try to continue selling rooms again. The outside looks pretty, but the rooms are horrible. I would not recommend staying here whatsoever. Trying to find another hotel to move to. This is definitely not acceptable and the place does need to close and totally renovate.
