The Parador Inn began life as a private late 19th-century home, and it still retains many elements from that period. Old-fashioned chandeliers, original woodwork and fireplaces, and leaded glass windows can be found in virtually every room. But the hand-painted murals really steal the show; they depict geckos, monkeys, and parrots, bringing out a laid-back Caribbean vibe that is echoed in the inn’s tropical plants and artwork.

Pittsburgh’s North Shore: Riverfront Stadiums and Museums
The Allegheny River separates the North Shore from downtown Pittsburgh. A 5-minute drive or 10-minute ride on the free subway will bring you into downtown, the city’s cultural, financial, and historic center. But there are lots of reasons to stick around the North Shore—it has the best view of Pittsburgh’s skyline and year-round fireworks displays.
The biggest draws of the North Shore are its pair of riverfront sports complexes—Heinz Field and PNC Park. They host Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates games, respectively, for much of the year. A short walk from either complex brings you to a slew of cultural attractions, including The Andy Warhol Museum (the pop-art icon was born in Pittsburgh) and the Carnegie Science Center.
