It's at a walking distance from the beach; secluded; safe; staff makes you feel like home; they're instrumental at providing tips on how to explore the area without a car. The bungalows are neat, you are in the middle of the woods & can easily hear the howler monkey (amazing). The vegetarian breakfast was great. If you want something different there are some good fine dining close by.

Eco-friendly resort across from the beach, with private luxury bungalows; stay includes an infrared-sauna session and daily breakfast

Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica: Coastal Town amid Tropical Rainforest

Puerto Viejo is a beach lover’s dream. Set on the coast of southeastern Costa Rica, this laid-back town is famous for its surfing waves—most notably the country’s most powerful wave, the Salsa Brava—and its beautiful, pristine sands. Locals enjoy a year-round tropical climate. You won’t have to look far for shops for renting kayaks and scuba gear, or Caribbean seafood restaurants. Since the town is set amid the Costa Rican rainforest, you might spot howler monkeys and exotic birds in the trees. For an especially memorable wildlife experience, visit the nearby Jaguar Rescue Center to interact with more native animals, among them vipers, sloths, and rehabilitated big cats.

This was the worse experience I have ever had with travel in my LIFE! First of all, there was no information on the site stating that there would be a 3.5 hr (which ended up being 7hrs) TREK to the location from the airport. Secondly, where do you ever go and they don't have a working phone to contact them once you're in country? NO phone? REALLY? After arriving and being greeted by the wife, of the husband and wife duo, we were served a light meal (breakfast) which was very tasty. But we figured it was a courtesy for the lack of information... No we were charged for it! The husband, whom didn't show himself until later the follow day greeted us and checked us in. We were informed that the wifi was down... Yet every other place had wifi...strange. We weren't offered anything to compensate for that. The trip was wonderful however the service subpar at best. And our lymphatic drainage massages were anything but an oil rub down. How do I know, I'm a school trained massage therapist! This was the ONLY thing that was needed during out stay and WE had to asked when were going to receive the service! There was no set schedule for the service and had we not mentioned it, we would not have received the rub down. And probably, in hindsight, would have been better off. I discussed all your concerns with the Boss (so he said and was proud of having had fired all the other personnel that were there before because they were sooo incompetent) and he offers nothing but excuses for each failure on the center's end. I also expressed that you don't need a 5star center to receive 5 star service. Offering excuses as oppose to trying to make the customer satisfied, isn't the answer! And "being in the carribbiean" isn't an excuse for lateness and incompetence as some (boss man) would like for you to believe. Terrible place and a waste of money! But my Costa Rican experience was wonderful. I didn't allow the failures of this poorly run place to cloud my experience in Costa Rica. The WORSE wannabe 'wellness center' that I've ever seen!
