Q:

How far & how long is the transfer from Johannesburg to Hippo Hollow Country Estates. How is the transfer made?

Lois F.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

It is a 4 hour road transfer each way. You have the option to fly this for an additional $125 or so each way, if you don't want to go by vehicle.

Q:

How many people will I be with on the 1 day Kruger Natl. Park Safari?

There will be up to 8 in your vehicle. You'll get good viewing and the driver will usually reposition the vehicle at sightings so that both sides can take pictures.

Q:

We are considering option 16, however the dates show February 10 to 28 days which make it 14 days. Please let me know the correct dates so we can book, thenk-you, Ferne

Ferne N.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

I see the misunderstanding...You can depart any day between Feb 10 and 28! It is not just one departure on 10 February, returning on 28 February. Clearer now?

Q:

I was wondering how my 77 year old father would do on this trip. He has a bad knee due to surgery and can't walk for long periods of time or up hills and rough terrain. He is otherwise healthy. the ground travel worries me?? any advice or can I converse withe someone who actually traveled on this trip.

Kristin l.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

There is no walking to speak of other than airport terminals and he could have wheelchair assistance for that. Safaris are in vehicles not on foot so he will be fine. No one has departed on this trip yet but if you want to talk to one of our team, we have been to all of these places and experienced all of these tours. Call us 866-427-2540

Q:

Hi! I'm wondering if there will be a need for any travel via small prop plane during the trip — it looks like its all or mostly ground transportation, but one person in our party prefers not to travel in prop planes and I want to be sure. Thank you!

Sarah E.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

No prop planes involved on basic trip, no.

Q:

Are there extra charges for the admission to the Castle of Good Hope/the Rhodes Memorial during half-day Cape Town city tour and admission to the national park for the full-day open-vehicle safari in Kruger National Park?

Phoebe M.  asked on  Nov 17, 2012

A:

Hi Phoebe. Your Kruger safari is included - for one full day. If you want additional safaris you would pay for those. Your admission to the Cape Town attractions is included (except for the Table Mtn gondola) on your Mother City tour.

Q:

How much per person is the additional cost to Victoria falls for airfare and lodging for two days?

Jodi F.  asked on  Nov 17, 2012

A:

Hi Jodi This would be determined by the dates that you would be traveling, we actually have to check the airfare for the exact days you want so when you call to book your basic trip we can quote you the price of a Vic Falls add on. Airfare varies widely so there is no way to give you a price without knowing dates. We're open Saturday 17th so give a call between 8:30am - 4:30pm PST on 866-427-2540.

Q:

I am a single traveler. I am not looking to meet someone...as on a dating site. On average, are there also single travelers on your offered trips? I prefer to pay the single supplement, however I certainly do not wish to be excluded from social interaction, all because I am single.

Gail B.  asked on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

Hi Gail This is an independent trip - not a group trip - so you won't be traveling with other people, except for when you join a day tour or a safari. I am sure that on the day trips and safari there will be other solo travelers.

Q:

I'm looking at flying from Denver in February, what airline would it be and what kind of seat? If coach, is it possible to upgrade to business and what would the cost be?

Jill S.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Hi Jill. To fly from Denver, you'd likely fly on United to Washington, DC, and connect to South African Airways. It is based on economy travel. To upgrade to business class would be possible, but the additional cost would be in the vicinity of $4900 per person. We are happy to make a specific quote if you can provide the exact dates. info@africaanswers.com. Thanks.

Q:

I saw from other answers that this is not being booked as a group, per se. But will the people who have the same arrival date in South Africa be on the same itinerary and thus travel together? And is any tour guide or other local local support provided (such as info on where & when to get our next connection, etc).

Phillip P.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Hi Francis. At each point along the itinerary, you are met by someone and transferred to your destination. You are never "on your own" to figure out what to do. If you depart on same day as others, yes, you will see them throughout the trip but you are not traveling as a group. You also have a support number you can call 24 hours a day during your trip. You are well looked after. Thanks!

Q:

I was considering option 1: if I depart say March 28th, can I come back in April for the same price, or do I need to depart and return between March 1st-31st?

Rebecca W.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Hi Rebecca. As long as there is space available and you depart by March 31, you are allowed to return in April. Thanks!

Q:

We are interested in seeing gardens in South Africa, can that be added? Do you have any suggestions? What would the cost be to add a few extra days? We might be interested in late February or March from Seattle.

Ann C.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Hi Ann. "The Garden Route" in South Africa is aptly named, and you can add some great days taking this route out of Cape Town. We have some suggestions, including Grootbos, where you can take a "flower safari". Email us at info@africaanswers.com, and we can assist. Also, our home office is in Bellevue if you'd like to call - 425-460-0899. Thanks.

Q:

Hi, I am an international student in U.S. with F1 Visa, do I have a qualification to join in this trip or not?

Lu I.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Hi Lu. Rules for visiting South Africa vary by country, and dependent on the passport you are traveling with. Please email us at info@africaanswers.com and we'll let you know. You would also need to be sure to follow the rules for exiting/re-entering the US on the Visa you possess. Thanks.
