Q:

We eould be very interested in seeing Sekigahara. Is this something that could be arranged during this trip?

Jennifer M.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

You could visit Sekigahara on one of your days at leisure in Tokyo. The best option is to arrange this on your own, as a private tour would cost well over $1,000. It looks like you would need to take a bullet train from Tokyo to Sekigahara, transferring to a local train along the way. The train ride can take around 3 hours and will cost around $160 per ticket one way for the bullet train, and around $26 per ticket round trip for the local train. After arriving in Sekigahara, you could either hire a taxi to give you a tour for around $100, or, if you speak Japanese, you could take a tour with a local company for around $13 per person. Another option would be to rent a car. The drive there would take around 5 hours. Your guide in Tokyo can provide you with more detailed information. We are available Monday – Friday 9:30 – 6:00 ET at 800-555-5765 to answer any additional questions you have.

Q:

Hi, I am seeing conflicting answers to similar questions. I asked earlier about travelling with my toddler, and was told that only children over 8 are allowed. However, in another question, a couple was travelling with a 15 mo old, and the person who answered that question indicated that they could have 3 to a room. Which answer was correct? If a 15 mo old is allowed, it would seem a 22 mo old would be too. Please advise.

Rachel K.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

The other question you are referring to was a question about a 15 year old, not 15 month old. It seems the abbreviation may have been the confusion. You abbreviated 22 month old with ‘mo’ and the other passenger abbreviated 15 year old with ‘yo’. The other question states: "My wife, I, and my 15 yo daughter would like to go. Can you accommodate 3 persons per room?" The problem with bringing such a young child on a trip like this is that the touring that’s done on the motor coach, especially the full day trip to the Great Wall, will be much too difficult for such a young child to endure. Otherwise, it would be our pleasure to have your family with us.

Q:

I want to join some friends on this trip. can i buy and fly fron london with flight changes. i am willing to pay the difference in ticket prices flying from here(any London airports) instead of lax/sfo

Marius  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Yes, we would be able to make arrangements for you to fly from London and meet your friends. However, the flight change would require additional arrangements be made to accommodate the new flight schedule. On arrival, you would need a private transfer from the Beijing airport to the Kempinski Hotel since your flight would arrive before the group flight. On the return, the flight from Tokyo to Beijing does not arrive in time to make a connection with the Beijing to London flight. So, you would need to stay an extra night in Beijing due to the new flight time, which would also require an additional round trip private transfer from the airport to the hotel and back. The difference in fare for the flight change, 3 transfers, and one additional night at the Beijing hotel would be $660 for a double, and $775 for a single passenger. These rates are based on published airfare and availability at the time of booking. Please note that the rates can fluctuate day-to-day as the published airfare rate changes. There may be some other options we can offer but we ask that you give us a call to discuss. We can be reached at 800-555-5765, Monday – Friday from 9:30 – 6:00 ET.

Frank Q.  asked on  Nov 12, 2012

Q:

I'm interested in this deal but I live in New York. I saw a flight to rendezvous in LAX from Vegas is about an extra $100. Would it be possible to arrange a flight from JFK or LGA to Beijing, or must I make accommodations separately to make the flight from either LAX or SFO? Also the solo fee is $499, which is incurred for a single room. If two random people were willing to share a room, could they omit the solo fee?

Sean S.  asked on  Nov 12, 2012

A:

Hi I'm also cinsidering this package and I live 20 minutes from the city (NJ). I signed on to try to find a roommate but the link doesn't seem to be working on Friendly Planet. I'm 28 years old, work in Finance and don't smoke, Are you still looking to book this trip and trying to find a roommate? If so, send me an email Patrikitt@hotmail.com

Patricia G.  from  Groupon  replied on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

We are not able to get an add-on from New York as Air China has flights from New York. However, we may be able to arrange connecting service from a nearby city, such as Philadelphia, etc. Please let us know your preference and we will do our best to assist you. Also, if you book your own flight from New York to LAX or SFO, be sure to leave yourself plenty of connection time (5-6 hours) for schedule changes, delays, etc. Yes, if two random people were to share a room then there would be no solo fee assessed to either passenger. We offer a roommate finder program (http://www.friendlyplanet.com/faqs/find-roommate.html), though do not directly pair solo travelers together and are not responsible for any costs or negative results arising from roommate-related complications. We are available Monday-Friday 9:30-6:00 ET at 800-555-5765 to answer any additional questions you may have. Don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Q:

My wife and I would like to travel from SFO on 3/21. Is that available?

Tom  asked on  Nov 12, 2012

A:

Yes, we still have this date available (though with a limited amount of seats). You can purchase this date by purchasing option 4 and when you call us to redeem the Groupon let us know your preferred travel date. We are also available at 800-555-5765 Monday-Friday 9:30-6:00 ET to answer any additional questions you may have.

Q:

We want to go to the Great Wall in China. Do we have the time to d that on our own?

Maria S.  asked on  Nov 12, 2012

A:

There is a full day included excursion to the Great Wall with lunch. If you'd like to visit the Great Wall on your own, rather than on the included tour, you are welcome to do that, but you must let your guide know and you will not be reimbursed for any unused services (in this case the included Great Wall tour and lunch). If you have any additional questions, please let us know. We are also available to speak with you Monday-Friday 9:30-6:00 ET, at 800-555-5765.

Q:

Do you still have availability for 2 for the March 21 departure from SFO? How long does it take to get Visas processed (how far in advance do we need to get this done)? Thanks so much for the help! Best regards, Michelle

Michelle T.  asked on  Nov 10, 2012

A:

Please call our office on Monday (9:30 to 6:00 eastern) and we'll let you know how our space looks. Hope you'll join us! You need tp apply for your visa about 60 - 45 days prior to departure, and the cost through our visa service is $170 per visa, less if you can go to a Chinese consulate in person. Probably easiest to go the visa service route, at least for most travelers.

Peggy M. G.  from  Merchant  replied on  Nov 11, 2012

Q:

Solo fee=$499 What does this mean? Visa fees, incidentals, & add-on tours not included, any idea what the Visa fees are? What if I got to Tokyo on my own, and flew to Bejing, what would it cost if I started in Bejing without your complete offer?

Diana S.  asked on  Nov 11, 2012

A:

If you are traveling on your own and need a single room, you'll need to pay a single room supplement. Otherwise, the fee doesn't apply to you. Visa fees are $170 if you go through our visa service and less if you can get to a Chinese consulate I. Person to apply. Otherwise, your airfare, transfers, (great) hotels, buffet breakfast, half day tour in Tokyo and full day tour to the Great Wall are all included. You'll pay more than the value of the voucher for the airfare alone. This is an awesome deal. Hope you can join us.
