Montego Bay, Jamaica: Coastal City with Tropical Jungles and Vibrant Markets

Situated on Jamaica’s northwest coast, Montego Bay draws vacationers year-round with its temperate climate, clear waters, and postcard-perfect beaches. Just a short ways inland, freshwater rivers such as the Martha Brae cut through expanses of jungle and forested mountains, making for scenic rafting.

Years ago, Montego Bay was a thriving banana and sugar exporter. You’ll find remnants of the city’s past at Sam Sharpe Square, where cobblestone streets stretch past grand Georgian architecture and a cast-iron fountain donated by a former banana baron. The city’s dynamic “Hip Strip” buzzes with duty-free boutiques and lively flea markets hawking brightly colored textiles, carved wooden sculptures, and natural healing oils that double as cassette-tape lubricant.

The only reason I give this offer 3 star is because the stay at the hotel was AMAZING. The staff was great and it was an incredible stay. As for getting there that part was the most horrible experience of my life! Spirit Airlines should be shut down. They were unorganized, tardy, and the staff was extremely unprofessional. If I ever go another trip with groupon I will choose a deal that just has the hotel and arrange my flight plan on my own with the airline of my choosing. But again let me just say that the hotel was beautiful, food was delicious, and staff was extremely sweet!

Beautiful resort! Definitely have to go there with kids because for adults there isn’t anything to do. Very small resort but the island is small itself so not much room to expand. I wouldn’t go there again definitely wasn’t worth the money.

This was an amazing deal. Redeeming the deal was very easy. We worked with someone to get us on the best flight possible. She was very professional. We fell like royalty from the time we landed in Jamaica to the time we got picked up to return home. Decameron in Jamaica was GREAT! The staff was very friendly. They had great daily activities. We enjoyed a very authentic Afro Jamaican group .

Great deal for the price. Ended up paying extra for a decent flight and ground transportation. The resort was decent, not the best as far as upgrades but had a tropical island feel. Daily buffet and 3 different restaurants on the property so we spent 0 on food. Right on the beach with plenty of available seating and activities. Very friendly staff and great service overall

Mostly older couples. My only complain was that our airport transfer going to the resort had the wrong info. This vacay was AMAZING! The buffet style food was so good every single day and every meal. The bar had a great selection. The scenery was relaxing and beautiful. The staff were welcoming and tons of fun! There is a club around the corner from the resort in the plaza that was hype!
