All-Inclusive Adults-Only Resort in Cancun's Trendy Hotel Zone with Vacation Express

Fodor's extols Cancun as having "everything you'd want in a vacation." People come here in droves year-round for the white-sands beaches, Mayan folk shows, and dance clubs that stay open well past midnight. This excursion from Vacation Express includes all-inclusive accommodations at the posh Grand Oasis Viva, which is just footsteps from the Caribbean Sea and clubs, shopping, and restaurants in the hopping Hotel Zone.

While there’s plenty to do in town, you don’t have to leave the resort premises to have a good time. Its 650 feet of beachfront is dotted with thatched-roof cabanas and two outdoor pools with one swim-up bar. You can also enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, and parasailing (non-motorized water sports are included with this Groupon). Or, for an additional fee, go deep-sea fishing or jet skiing.

Eight restaurants are on site at Grand Oasis Viva, serving exotic international cuisine. Try some authentic Mexican cuisine at Maria Bonita, or dine on fresh seafood amid ocean breezes at the open-air Cocoa restaurant. Later on, the resort transforms into a late-night hot spot—you can catch live music at one of the outdoor bars, or sidle up for an exotic cocktail at one of the indoor lounges, reserved exclusively for guests.

Cancún: Cool White Sands and Mayan Relics

Located on a barrier island shaped like the number seven, Cancún's Hotel Zone juts into the Caribbean Sea at the northeast tip of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. With the sea on one side and freshwater lagoons on the other, it's a popular spot for sailing and snorkeling. Although the beaches and barrier reefs are a major draw, the geography is equally enticing further inland, where you can dive into an underground river or take a speedboat through a mangrove jungle.

Cancún pulls in millions of visitors each year, so escaping the crowds and the party atmosphere isn't always easy, but a visit to Playa Delfines offers a chance for sunbathing in relative seclusion. Resorts have yet to encroach upon this stretch of sand, and it's especially popular with surfers.

The stone columns of El Rey Ruins, an ancient Mayan site dating back to the second and third centuries BCE, lie within the city’s Hotel Zone. Believed to be a royal burial ground, the archaeological site is also home to wild iguanas that lounge in the sun and read Tom Clancy novels. For a Mayan-themed daytrip, take a 1.5-hour drive from Cancún down the coast to Tulum, a pre-Columbian walled city located on a bluff overlooking the sea—one of the Yucatán Peninsula's most visited Mayan ruins. The Mayan city of Chichén Itzá, chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, is only a 2.5-hour drive from Cancún.

The arrival at the hotel wasn't the best, our hotel room wasn't clean or ready at the moment we arrived. We had to wait for a couple hours, even though we could go and eat, explore the surrounds in the hotel. The stay of 4 days was very nice, the food at the buffet isn't all that great, but I do recommend the restaurants that need a reservation

My parent's had a pleasant exp. Only issue was that I had booked 2 rooms and paid for 2 but they were kept in one room the first night. I am going to call for refund for that, as that was not right. Other than the vacation was great.

If you need party favors you can get those right off the flight as your getting on the bus. All in all hotel was great. The only negative I would say was how depressing it was taking the bus to our hotel and riding through such an impoverished place. Definitely makes you feel guilty for even being able to take a vacation.
