IFA Villas Bavaro Resort & Spa

Playa Bavaro, located on Punta Cana’s eastern coast, is widely considered one of the prettiest beaches in the Caribbean. Its powdery white sands stretch for miles along the turquoise sea, and it’s fringed with hundreds of palm trees—many people call it the “Coconut Coast.” IFA Villas Bavaro Resort & Spa is a short walk from the oceanfront, and with its all-inclusive plan, you can enjoy a complimentary scuba diving lesson and free access to snorkeling gear to explore the coral reef, as well as gear for windsurfing, boogie boarding, and kayaking. And that’s all in addition to the unlimited meals and open bar in the all-inclusive plan.

A $20 million renovation in 2008 added several amenities to the hotel, including a glamorous lake-style swimming pool with a large water fountain. During the day, guests flock to the pool deck and swim-up bar to enjoy frozen cocktails and meringue dancing. The new High Beach Jacuzzi Bar has live dance shows, themed dinners, and a 4 a.m. disco surrounded by several bubbling whirlpools. After the music stops, you can make your way back to a superior guest room, which features a private balcony and a plasma TV.

The resort houses several buffet and a la carte restaurants, and guests can eat and drink to their hearts’ content at all locations. At Bambu, chefs whip up traditional Japanese plates in an open-air patio. There’s a medley of fresh seafood on the menu at the beachside Las Velas Grill, where patrons can wear towels and bathing suits. Additional onsite facilities: ia full-service spa, complete with a sauna and a steam bath, and a tour desk that organizes unique cultural excursions.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Miles of White-Sand Beaches

When Christopher Columbus landed on the Dominican Republic more than five centuries ago, he described it as "a beautiful island paradise." Punta Cana, located on the island's easternmost tip, lays legitimate claim to that description. The coast stretches for more than 20 miles and is dotted with coconut palms, chaise lounges, and laid-back bars. Glitzy resorts feature prominently along the shoreline, but Playa El Cortecito, a short drive up the coast, harks back to earlier times. Brightly colored, thatched-roof shacks line the beach, and local fishermen bring their boats to shore each afternoon with the day's catch.

The arrival at the hotel wasn't the best, our hotel room wasn't clean or ready at the moment we arrived. We had to wait for a couple hours, even though we could go and eat, explore the surrounds in the hotel. The stay of 4 days was very nice, the food at the buffet isn't all that great, but I do recommend the restaurants that need a reservation

My parent's had a pleasant exp. Only issue was that I had booked 2 rooms and paid for 2 but they were kept in one room the first night. I am going to call for refund for that, as that was not right. Other than the vacation was great.

If you need party favors you can get those right off the flight as your getting on the bus. All in all hotel was great. The only negative I would say was how depressing it was taking the bus to our hotel and riding through such an impoverished place. Definitely makes you feel guilty for even being able to take a vacation.
