Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

Just to make sure I understand, each Groupon is for one person? So, if I have 2 people in my party I would need 2 Groupons?

Marian K.  asked on  Jan 12, 2013

A:

Yes, it is one Groupon voucher per person required, up to 3 Groupon vouchers can be used per party. (but if you end up with additional people, the rest of them qualify for 20% off the regular prices.

Q:

Why does the offer say for one person but the trip can be with more? It is confusing.

Louis S.  asked on  Jan 13, 2013

A:

Sorry about that. It was required that it show that the $199.00 rate was for one person, the rate "per" person. You can use up to 3 Groupon vouchers per group. And you can always have more people join you, they would get a 20% discount on the regular price for their outfitting. Thanks for asking.

Q:

Is the food included?

Erika T.  asked on  Jan 20, 2013

A:

Yes, food is definitely included. Click on the hyperlink for the "Lightweight Complete Package" in the deal description & it will show you everything that is included and what you are required to bring of your own.

Q:

Wow you've done an amazing job answering all of these questions! That speaks to your level of service. I have another however: if we cancel within 45 days, do we get a full refund or partial? Many thanks.

Megan D.  asked on  Jan 20, 2013

A:

For the Groupon, there is no refund. However, if you cancel with 45 days or more, you are able to still have the package for the 2013 year with a $45.00 service fee possible. If you cancel less than the 45 days, there is definitely a $45.00 service fee which would mean you would be able to take the trip in 2013 for the Groupon price you paid plus $45.00. If after the 2013 dating, then you would just get the $196.00 credit to use for future trips. (sorry if it sounds confusing)

Q:

Are there vegetarian meal options? (Not vegan-just meatless.) Also, we'd need 2 adult and the get 2 kid (age 11/13) packages...but wonder if we can just use one canoe with the dad and two kids...while we bring along our own paddleboard (SUP)? Is this a possibility? Looks like a fun deal!

Jim S.  asked on  Jan 20, 2013

A:

Sorry for the delay in replying, we were in Des Moines for a travel show & had to drive home most of the day. Yes, we do have a vegetarian menu you can choose from. We do have 3 person aluminum canoes and a 4 person Kevlar (upgrade for $6.00 more day/person). Don't know much about paddle boards but since I've never heard of them being used, I thinking it might not be an item you'd actually care to bring along. If you call our office on Monday, we can upgrade you to the Kevlar 4 person for a 3 person upgrade instead of the 4 person upgrade price. (call after 9 am Central and tell them Lynn said upgrade 4 for the 3 person Kevlar canoe price). :-)

Q:

We are two separate families, (4 adults, 10, 9, 6 and 5 year-olds) wanting to travel together. I assume that is one group (is a group that size feasible?) so we'd purchase the 3 groupons, 1 adult package, 2 youth and then the 5 and 6 year-olds are free? Is that correct?

Jennifer R.  asked on  Jan 19, 2013

A:

Maximum group size is nine - so it looks like you would make it! Yes - you would purchase 3 Groupon deals & then call us & we would get you the discounted adult rate, 2 special youth rates & the 5 & 6 year olds would be free.

Q:

Hi, I would love to purchase this special, but won't have the funds for another week. Could I still buy at that time or will this b e offered again?

Linda L.  asked on  Jan 18, 2013

A:

I think that Groupon only has this online for another few days. Unless they extend the dates more, this won't be online after that.

Q:

There is just me...is the route easy to follow by yourself?...Would not want to get lost but do have a cell phone lol..Sounds like a wonderful solo adventure!

molly g.  asked on  Jan 17, 2013

A:

There are lots of routes to choose from - easy to more challenging, depending on your preference. You can choose if you want to move every day or to stay in one spot. My mother took her first solo trip a few years back and base camped, just traveled in her first day & out her last. Cell phones work in some areas but we also have Satellite phones & Spot devices for rental for more added piece of mind.

Q:

I would be traveling with my husband and our 2 kids, both age 4. Does this package allow us to travel in one canoe?

Krista A.  asked on  Jan 16, 2013

A:

No problem. Two 4 year olds can sit in the middle of the canoe with you. We have an 18.5' Alumnacraft canoe that has a wide middle seat. Or if you want something lighter, we have Kevlar canoes with middle seats too. (the Alumnacraft is 70 pounds and the Kevlar is 52 pounds. Kevlar would be an upgrade in price. http://www.vnorth.com/outfitting_services/voyageur-lightweight-complete-outfitting.html

Q:

Does this price include the delivery of the canoe and equipment to the launch site? If I already have a route in mind can I go there or is there a list of routes I have to pick from?

Kaitlin R.  asked on  Jan 16, 2013

A:

Some of the entry/exit points are included & some are an extra cost. Lake One, Snowbank, Moose Lake are a few that are included. If you have a route you want to do you can or we can help you choose a route.

Q:

My understanding is that the best way to bring a family of 4 (2 adults, kids 15 and 13) would be to purchase 2 of the Groupon deals, and purchase 2 youth packages for $189. Is that correct?

Beth O.  asked on  Jan 16, 2013

A:

That is correct!

Q:

I saw you mention a Kevlar canoe in one of your earlier repsponses. I'm looking at a trip for 3...is a Kevlar canoe an option instead of the aluminum? Would it also be an option to add on a kayak for some nominal cost (if so, what's the make and brand of your kayaks?)? Thanks!

Joe C.  asked on  Jan 16, 2013

A:

Yes, you can get a three person canoe. We have 3 person aluminum and 3 person Kevlar. A kayak for the 3rd person would be the same as the Kevlar upgrade, $6.00 more per person/day.
