Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

OK, this choice: $20 for a 45-minute Ultimate Academy Experience handgun class for one (a $40 value) Is this a 1:1 with instructor to show how to use my hand gun? Is there shooting time. included.?

Ruth f.  asked on  Oct 11, 2012

A:

This is 10 mins on the Virtual Range using a Laser Glock 22 or Beretta 92, 10 mins in our 180 Degree Simulator, 10 mins in our 300 Degree Simulator, then a chance to shoot 20 Live rounds with a Glock 22 9mm pistol with an Instructor. This is not 1:1 Private Instruction. We do offer Private Instruction at $75 per hour or 3 hours for $150.

Q:

The "deal for two" option is now sold out. If my friend and I purchase the "deal for one" separately, can we still schedule time together and attend as if we got the "deal for two"?

Hannah M.  asked on  Oct 15, 2012

A:

Hi Hannah! You can certainly do so! For specific scheduling inquires, please reach out to the merchant directly. Thanks for your post!

Q:

In a previous question, you suggested someone new to firearms do the 30 min session on the V-Range first. Does that mean that I could purchase the 30 min V-Range (and use that one visit) and the 45 min Ultimate Academy experience (to use in a visit on another day)?

Lori D.  asked on  Oct 14, 2012

A:

Hello Lori! As the Fine Print states, this Deal has a limit of 1 purchase per person. Thanks for your interest!

Q:

Three questions: Since this deal does not include 1:1 instruction, what type of preparation will be offered prior to using the virtual range and simulators.....How large a group will I be in? Will the instructor be with me the whole time I'm shooting live rounds or will I have to share his/her time?

colette  asked on  Oct 12, 2012

A:

Sorry for any delay. The instructions are built in to the Virtual Range courses, but you can certainly ask any of the qualified staff at the business to assist with any questions or concerns.
Additionally, the booth can hold up to two customers at one time, and the instructor is present during the experience.
You can view this information and other relevant details by visiting the FAQ page on the business' website. Hope this is helpful!

Q:

How old do you have to be to use the virtual range?

Stacey H.  asked on  Oct 11, 2012

A:

Hi Stacey!
You must be 18 or older or have parental consent. As long as you are tall enough to safely hold the firearm and clear the safety bench you should be fine.
I hope this helps!

Q:

1) Is either of the 30-min and 45-min packages suitable for people who have never held a gun before? Will there be an instructor present to give basic tutorial? 2) Will the 2-people package have the 2 persons separated for the duration of the class?

Ying W.  asked on  Oct 11, 2012

A:

Q1: Yes, either of these can be beneficial for those new to firearms. I would suggest the 30 min session on the V-Range first. Additionally, we offer a Basic Handgun Fundamentals class that is 3-hours long and $99 everyday. Q2: No, 2 people will be together.

Q:

Will this class qualify for concealed carry license?

Margaret P.  asked on  Oct 11, 2012

A:

No, but we do teach Wisconsin's CCW Class every week at the Academy multiple times. We guarantee we will provide the most comprehensive training in the state. There is no other facility that will teach a 5 hour long class, include practice shooting time in a Virtual Range, then take you to the Live Range and do a qualification shoot, provide you a certicate of completion, Micheal Martin's book "Basic Handgun & Concealed Carry Fundamentals" ($27 Value), and a packet that includes all the state's concealed carry statutes. All of this for only $99 everyday. We even offer Ladies Only versions of the class. Call you nearest Gander Mountain Academy for more details if needed. Additionally, the Concealed Carry License should be taken very seriously. A piece of paper that says you can carry, doesn't mean you know how, or that you understand what you can and can't do. Be Safe, Be Prepared.
