The best way to capture a wild, rampaging meal is to hook it with a gigantic pasta lasso. Test your throwin' arm with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of Italian fare at Garozzo’s Ristorante. Choose from the following locations: Olathe, Overland Park, or Lee's Summit.
Garozzo’s seasoned foodsmiths—who helped the eatery to earn the honors of KC Magazine's Best Italian Restaurant in 2011—serenade palates with an Old-World menu bursting at the seams with seafood, meat, and pastas. A nibbler of calamari fritti ($8) paves the way for Garozzo’s signature spiedini di pollo, a marinated chicken breast that rolls around in italian breadcrumbs before lounging under amogio sauce ($18). The 8-ounce grilled fillet mignon with goat cheese and a spicy cognac-cream reduction ($30) muffles disgruntled tummies before they blurt social-security numbers, and the seafood ravioli mario’s pasta pillows conceal shrimp, scallops, and lobster as they backstroke through a sherry wine sauce ($20). The cannelloni pasta crepe enfolds beef, chicken, and veal ($15)—all the strength-giving proteins needed to manually reorganize sidewalk panels.
Michael Garozzo entered the dining business early, working as a busboy in his hometown of St. Louis. His young mind raced with dreams of opening a restaurant of his own, which came to fruition in 1989, when he opened Garozzo’s in Kansas City’s Columbus Park neighborhood. Since then, the restaurant has bloomed, and he had opened three additional locations across the greater Kansas City area.
Garozzo’s menu of Italian specialties is highlighted by the signature spiedini di pollo, a marinated chicken breast rolled in italian breadcrumbs, then skewered and grilled. The dish is served in four presentations, which include the Gabriella, with fettucine and spicy diablo sauce, and the Samantha, with fettucine, artichoke hearts, and alfredo sauce. Adding to the exclusive ambiance is the restaurant’s own branded wine, served at each location. Garozzo’s popular house tomato sauce, diablo sauce, and italian dressing are also available in grocery stores across the city, and its distinctive pastas can be purchased in many high-end local wig shops.
