A Chat with Gaston Farm
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Prestige Pets and Gaston Farm strive to make your experience educational and enjoyable. Enjoying the barn setting and the equine animal is the first step of becoming the best rider you can be. By riding with us, you will learn to be a team with your horse. We all start with six feet on the ground.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Coming prepared makes every instructor smile! Riders should wear hard-soled boots and long pants—no sneakers or shorts for safety. Spectators, please wear full foot wear. No open-toed or open-heeled shoes are permitted in the barn also for safety. Water bottles are great to have, and of course, lots of smiles!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Equine animals are special and strong, and they offer more than what we physically see. We learn a lot more from these beautiful animals than to just saddle up and ride. We learn to trust in a way we never imagined, and we learn to walk with six feet, not just two. And we learn to speak—sometimes without words!
What do you love most about your job?
It is such a gift to watch a rider change right before your eyes. Some learn to jump the moon, some learn simply overcome fears. There are emotional moments when students thrive from horses therapeutically or reach their goals and strive for more. Teaching and riding both start in the heart!
