Q:

Do you work with kids with special needs? Thinking of purchasing for my 8 yr old who has Down syndrome. Thank you!

LeeAnn  asked on  Apr 10, 2013

A:

I don't work with kids that have special needs. I would suggest a therapeautic riding farm. I've worked at a therapeutic riding farm before and it great for the kids. At a therapeautic farm they have a specialized instructor, proper equipment and side walkers as well as horse handlers. Suggestions would be Therapeutic Rocking Horse, and Windrush Farm. There are probably others you can find searching online. Good luck theres many great therapeautic barns out there!

Q:

How far will four lessons take me? I went riding once before, but it was for 5 hours and I think I learned a fair amount.

Peter T.  asked on  Apr 10, 2013

A:

Riding is an on going process and people learn at different speeds. It can take years to learn to walk, trot, canter properly and in balance with the horse. Some people are natural riders learning more quickly and others it takes a bit more time. In four lessons the goal will be to know the process of grooming and tacking up independently. Riding wise, know how to correctly ask the horse to go forward, halt, turn, do circles. Know correct riding position. Learning the posting trot and beginning to develop good rhythm and balance with the trot.

Q:

I just want to double check before I purchase. If I buy 2 groupons, my son and I can take lessons together. Is that correct??

Laurie J.  asked on  Apr 10, 2013

A:

Very sorry, but due to the limit of 1 Groupon per person, you won't be able to purchase more than one Groupon total. If you'd like lessons for two people, you're welcome to purchase the Groupon for one person and then pay the regular rate for the second person.

Q:

My daughter will turn 18 on June 4th, but since she has some special needs she requires instuction at a much younger level. She has ridden before. Are you able or willing to work with her? I would e buying her the 4 pack of lessons.

Lynn H.  asked on  Apr 8, 2013

A:

We are not a therapeautic riding program. So we don't have side walkers. Does she have the balance to ride with out a side walker, can she mount up on the horse without assistance and does she listen to instruction fairly well? She may do better in a therapeautic riding program geared toward her needs.

Q:

I would love to purchase a 4 pack for my daughter, but she doesn't turn 6 until early September and the coupon expires before then. is there any way she would be able to use them.

Patti C.  asked on  Apr 7, 2013

A:

For lessons the student need to be 6 years and up. Even 6 years old is really young, attention span doesn't last long, and there is a certain amount of strength you need to ride. However I can possibly do more of a pony ride than a lesson, if that works.
