Beer was good. However, the Groupon called for a filled growler as part of the deal and they only gave me the 1/2 growler size (32 oz). This is suspicious to me, as the "value" of the services is stated on Groupon as $45. There is no way that 10 samples ($20) + empty 32oz. growler glass + 32oz. growler fill = $45. Especially since while I was there, I witnessed the bartender charge someone $12 for a filled 1/2 growler ($5 for the empty + $7 for the fill). Therefore, stated value should be shown as $32 and discounted amount = only 38% (not 56%). I've purchased Groupons for many other taprooms/breweries, and I can safely say this one is not a comparable deal.

About Generations Brewing Company
With a name like Generations Brewing Company, it's no surprise this Freeport brewery is a father-son operation. After honing his brewing skills at Galena Brewing Company, Steven Winter joined forces with his father, Mark, to open Generations in 2014. The 8,400-square-foot facility may be outfitted with a taproom and beer garden, but as Steven told the Journal Standard, “The vibe is simple—focus on the beers." Read on for a closer look at a few of the artisan ales and lagers you may find on draft.
Pretzel City Amber: Locally made pretzels may have earned this American-style amber ale its name, but the munich, melanoidin, and caramel malts are also key to its bready flavor and aroma. (5.1% ABV)
Cherry Czar: Cherrywood-smoked barley forms this sweet, yet strong russian imperial stout's malty backbone, which is complemented by a cherry scent and finish. (10.4% ABV)
5 Blend: Generations utilizes five yeast strains, plus plenty of rye to brew this earns this spicy rye saison featuring bubblegum, pineapple, and white-peppercorn flavors. (7.0% ABV)
Jelly Donut: The brewery adds sweetness to this tart berliner weisse with an organic cherry-and-blueberry purée to to form a light, refreshing brew that's perfect for warm-weather drinking. (3.8% ABV)
Tawny Ale: To mimic the flavors of barrel aging, this brew is aged in Jameson-whiskey-soaked oak spirals, resulting in a full-bodied Irish-style strong ale with sweet, warming vanilla notes. (6.5% ABV)
