What You'll Get
Without steak, most Americans wouldn’t be able to justify owning such terrifyingly sharp steak knives, much less an entire rack of steak guns. Get a chance to use them with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of Midwestern-style steaks and drinks at Gene's Steak House on West International Speedway Boulevard.
Gene's Steak House has been serving up Chicago and Kansas City–style beef and steaks for more than 60 years. Indulge your carnivorous instincts with a menu of items seasoned to deliciousness with a family recipe and grilled over an open flame. Treat yourself to a cooked-to-order 10- to 11-ounce filet mignon ($31.95) or a 26- to 28-ounce porterhouse ($34.95) and win bragging rights if you can still walk to your hovercraft and get it off the ground. The menu also boasts Italian dishes for red-meat-averse patrons, including shrimp à la vodka with pasta ($18.95). Pair any of these dishes with a variety of wines from the extensive wine list, featuring fine labels from a collection of continents and countries. All entrees may include a complimentary relish tray, cracker basket, baked Idaho potato, garden salad with housemade dressing, and fresh rolls. Finish the evening with a sugary serving of key-lime pie made from a family recipe ($4.95), or ask about the housemade dessert specials.
Opened in 1948 by Gene and Mary Wilson, Gene's Steak House provides Floridians with a taste of the Midwest in a relaxed candlelit atmosphere. All Chicago and Kansas City steaks are corn-fed, properly aged, and made to order. Steaks can be prepared rare with a lukewarm center, medium with a hot-pink center, and well done with no pink at all, Floyd or otherwise.
