About George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum

George H.W. Bush was America's 41st President, and roughly the millionth in a long line of proud Texans. In other words, it's only fitting he now has a sprawling presidential library and museum situated on 90 acres of the proud campus of Texas A&M University. Some highlights of the complex include:

  • Size: the L-shaped museum building occupies 69,000 square feet next to a Presidential pond and the idyllic Barbara Bush Rose Garden.

  • Eye Catcher: the 12-foot-tall segment of the Berlin Wall, covered in still-vibrant graffiti messages of resistance. Once a symbol of Communism and the Cold War, the wall came down during Bush's presidency.

  • Hands-On Fun: following in Bush's footsteps by getting briefed about the Gulf War in the museum's very own Situation Room.

  • Permanent Exhibits: 31 of them, all told, document Bush's political career. They're laid out chronologically, and end with Bush and his wife's joyful post-White House life. (Hint: It involves lots of parachute jumping!)

  • Don't Miss: the chance to get your picture taken in a replica Oval Office. It's like being president, but without the hassle of campaigning and never, ever being allowed to paint your house.
