George C. Marshall Museum

A Chat with George C. Marshall Museum

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
George C. Marshall was one of our most famous Americans. He was called the "organizer of victory" for WWII, and inspired the Marshall Plan, which helped rebuild the infrastructure of Europe after wartime devastation. He is the only military leader to receive a Nobel Peace prize.

What is the experience customers can expect?
Following the showing of an introductory video, you are free to conduct a self-guided tour of three main spaces. Marshall’s early years in a VMI in Lexington, VA, his Army service before and during World War I in the main lobby, the Organizer of Victory gallery and the Soldier of Peace gallery.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The George C. Marshall Foundation houses Marshall's archive of personal papers and effects, a research library for scholars, and the museum. All are used to perpetuate the legacy of George C. Marshall, a true citizen-soldier.

What do you love most about your job?
We encourage our visitors to learn more about George C. Marshall's role in the major events of the 20th century. He literally changed the world. We hope younger generations will be inspired by Marshall's strength of character, and understand that one person can make a difference.

"More than the Marshall Plan"
Visited Lexington on a beautiful Fall Day. The museum does an excellent job of showing Marshall as a soldier and statesman; his 'call' back to service post-WWII is the most interesting part of his life and this museum. This is a small museum that can be visited in an hour, a combination of... Read More

"A tribute to the right man at the right time during the 20th century."
George Marshall gave us so much with his dedicated service to our country. He was undoubtedly one of the most significant and influential men of World War Two, and the Cold War.
