What You'll Get
If you've never had authentic Gerontes pizza, then what you think is pizza might in fact be a cunningly disguised pretzel. Today's Groupon clears up the confusion: for $6, you get $12 worth of pizza, sandwiches, and drinks at Geronte's Pizzeria on Vogel Road.
Grandma Geronte and her pizza-making progeny craft a menu of pies and sandwiches with house-made crusts and breads and freshly ground meats. Minimalists can feast on a classic cheese pizza ($8.35+), while maximalists opt for sky-scraping Chicago-style deep-dish pies that stretch up to graze the mouth's roof ($18.05+). Geronte's customizable pies can wear a diverse range of hats, including classics as well as less traditional options such as mandarin oranges, peanut butter, and tuna. Defy corporate tomato sauce conventions in favor of spicy rebellion with the barbecue pizza, which sprinkles smoked cheese, beef, and onions into a pool of hot or mild barbecue sauce spilling over crusty barricades ($10.15+). Beyond the hot horizons of the pizza oven lie other options including hot wings ($8.75), lasagna ($8.95), and the Gerontes sub filled with genoa salami, ham, and pepperoni ($8.25). Gerontes opens its doors for both dine-in and carryout on Monday–Saturday evenings. Carryout orders can be placed online.
- ...Geronte's is a hidden gem with a single location, no franchises, a small Italian menu, and did I say amazing, amazing pizza? – Aimee Blume, Evansville Courier & Press
- The employees are always friendly, the store is very clean, and the pizza is always second to none. I highly recommend Gerontes to anyone who is a Chicago-style pizza fan... – Anthony, Google Maps
