In pursuit of greater thrills, some sports extremists resort to drastic measures such as inverted kayaking, mountain-goat climbing, and live-birdie badminton. Harmoniously commune with nature with today's Groupon to the Get Outdoors Expo at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get two tickets to The Get Outdoors Expo (up to a $20 value; $10 per ticket at the door, $8 in advance).
- For $18, you get four tickets to The Get Outdoors Expo (up to a $40 value; $10 per ticket at the door, $8 in advance).
The Get Outdoors Expo takes place on Friday, May 13 from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are valid for one-day entry.
The Get Outdoors Expo provides a place for adventurous athletes to connect, learn about their sports' latest advancements, try some unfamiliar activities, and browse more than 200 vendor booths. At Peddle Fest, stunt bikers can take a breather from the flaming-ring slalom to gape at some of Utah's top BMXers, including Rob Wise, as he attempts to break the stationary bunny-hop world record, or multiple-time national-champion stunt cyclist Jeremy VanSchoonhoven in his main stage show. Witness the Gibbons Slackline Pro Team display their precarious sport (click here to watch them in action) that aims to introduce the earthbound to high-flying acrobatics. The Vertical Zone features an indoor bouldering range and sport-climbing wall hosted by the chalk-coated thumbs of Salt Lake City's Momentum Climbing. Saturday-night shenanigans include a showcase of the region's top climbers in the FCC Semi-Pro Comp Series as well as the county's second-best squad of semicompetitive shoelace wranglers.
