Q:

Hi ~ I'm 53 and have not worked out, of any kind, in well over a year. Am I bitting off more than I can chew so to speak? I am REALLY out of shape.

Caryn M.  asked on  Apr 22, 2013

I wanted to answer Caryn and Robyn and anyone else who has a question about fitness levels. We have a very large group at the workouts and the ability levels are all over the place. We have complete novice exercisers all the way up to fit athletes who participate in our Red Rocks Boot Camp. While it is one heck of a good workout, you can go at your own pace and take breaks when appropriate. No one ever holds the group back and when we are on the move, we always regroup. Some people will take a long break in the middle of the workout or just stay for part of the session until the get stronger. The one universal limiter that I would tell people to hold off before coming is if you experience knee pain while going up stairs (or bleachers). That is not the type of pain you want to push through. We do have several people who purchased this offer and are going to get started with us in our DTC studio before coming to their first boot camp so that they can safely ramp up their fitness level first. The key is to listen to your own body and be safe. Please feel free to email me with additional questions at neil@getstrongdenver.com. Thanks!

More Questions and Answers

Q:

Please explain the reservation required part. Do we have to register every Saturday that we intend to come? Also, there are so many boot camp type classes held at Red Rocks. How will we know which one is Get Strong Denver the first time we come?

Peggy B.  asked on  Apr 24, 2013

A:

Hi Peggy. We require reservations for a few reasons, one is that we have a LOT of participants and we are now offering two sessions each Saturday and we need to limit how many people come to each session. Also, if the weather changes and we have to cancel a session, if you aren't scheduled, then we won't know to contact you. Also people who buy individual sessions will have their sessions deducted each time they come. Once you purchase the offer, you are directed to our Orientation information document that answers the questions you are asking, but we meet in the middle of the top bleacher and it's easy to find us because we are such a large group. Hope this answers your questions!

Q:

If I buy the $25 deal with 5 passes, can I use one and bring a friend to use another? Thanks

Amy C.  asked on  Apr 21, 2013

A:

Sorry Amy, but we are offering this deal at such a low price that you will notice in the fine print that you are not permitted to share your voucher sessions with anyone else. The 5 session offer is inexpensive enough that maybe your friend can buy their own...

Since I am required to work at the hospital every other Saturday, may I share my season pass with one other person?

Q:

I have barely been able to handle 1 hour at RRs in the past. How fit do I need to be to take this class? I'm super healthy with no med issues at 49, but I don't want to be the one that holds everyone up. I need a quick general idea to commit. --Suzy

Suzanne S.  asked on  Apr 20, 2013

A:

The class accepts all physical levels of activity. You would be working to push yourself during the class, so don't worry about hold anyone else up, since it is individual. It sounds like you would be an excellent participant in the sessions.
