gfJules was born out of necessity when founder Jules Shepard was diagnosed with celiac disease in 1999. Not willing to eat the bland, tasteless foods afforded to people with her condition, Jules took to the kitchen and created the all-purpose, gluten-free flour blend that she uses to this day. She initially intended it just for her own personal use, but word got out and its popularity spread. Since first offering it to the public in 2008, and now exclusively through gfJules, Jules has sold more than one million pounds of the 5-flour blend and mixes.
The gfJules website showcases a range of gluten-free products that stemmed from this specialty flour, from pizza crust and bread to cookie and cornbread mixes. Jules also supplies gluten-free chefs with plenty of healthy recipes, which she compiles into e-books that tackle such meals as Thanksgiving dinner and school lunches.
