Although I purchased the Bug Bam! bracelets with some doubts, I was still a bit disappointed with their performance. They have a pleasant citronella smell that does more for peace of mind than it does for insect repellency. I used the bands in the north woods on two separate trips and didn't notice any difference between how the bugs were attacking me and my fellow travelers who weren't wearing the bands. I also put a few of the bands in my golf bag which is where they'll stay. When the mosquitos get bad on the course, I'll still use conventional spray because it seems to work better.
I am one who mosquitos are generally attracted to, as in, I will have 20 mosquito bites, and my husband will have one, if any. I bought two packs of these wristbands hoping to have some relief from the bugs. I went to the park and wore the wrist band, right after opening it. I was getting several mosquito bites, one even bit me on my wrist right next to the band. This product does not work, as I still had many mosquito bites.
Used these last weekend while fishing in south Texas. Didn't get bit.
Only had 4 wristbands - but I was at an outside cookout with 8 people - see my dilemma ? - so I put one wrapped around the upper part of the table umbrella that went through the center of the table - one on the lower part, then I placed two directly on the table at opposite ends and there were no more bees or other flying insects that bother us the whole night - I'd say that was excellent performance - wouldn't you?
While it was effective with the mosquitoes, the odor was very strong and 2 of my grandchildren developed rashes from where the wristbands were on their wrists (which disappeared after the wristbands were removed). We eventually hung them around the perimeter of the patio and had a wonderful time playing card games under the protection of the wristbands.
The product works well but not great. I don't wear perfume or any other scent and the bugs love me. I wore 3 at a time (1 on each ankle and 1 on each wrist and I did not get bit. When I just wore 2 (one on my ankle and one on my wrist) I got 1 bite. The product is difficult to attach to your own wrist. You may want to have someone elso put it on you.
The description and buying experience were excellent, but the product is not as effective as I would like it to be. I was hoping to be able to wear the bracelet rather than spray bug spray on me when I play golf, but saw a mosquito land on my leg just inches from the bracelet.
The order processing took quite a while, although I do understand that when a product gets a response from the public it will be hard hit to produce the product in a timely fashion. Interestingly, the product worked for my daughter in Pennsylvania, but not for me in Virginia, go figure.
worked good to begin with, but I am not sure they are 100% effective over the 100hours they claimed the effect would last. However it did work well to begin with, but definitely diminishes effect. But for the price, effectiveness and for lack of bug spray I had to spray on I would give it 7/10.
They work well enough. Great for people that are always getting bit.
