1878 and 1921 Morgan Silver Dollars
About the Coins
These coins are an excellent addition to a coin collector’s menagerie. They are made of silver that came from the Comstock Lode in northern Nevada, which was America’s largest silver strike. Designed by George T. Morgan, the coins consequently are named for him.
Why These Years?
1878 was the first year these coins were minted, and 1921 was the last year. Early Morgan coins were melted down to make the 1921 issue, so the 1878 coins are even rarer.
