Q:

Can you advise which airlines this device IS cleared for use on ? It would appear that most of US carriers deny the use of this product on the flight and term is a federal offence.

Richard D.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and FAA do not prohibit the use of personal air purifiers on board airplanes, but some airlines allow this. You would need to check with your preferred airline before flying.

Q:

Hi! Does this device make noise? If so, how loud is it? Can you give examples please? Thanks!

No, it is completely silent.

Q:

And also... will it interfere with other electronic devices?

Katherine P.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

No, it will not. The device can even be used on an airplane (if allowed). However, if you have a pacemaker, you should consult with your doctor before use, just as a precaution.

Q:

Does this work in all environments? Even overseas? How does it work? Do you have to wait awhile before it starts working?

Katherine P.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

Yes, but if the air is too wet, foggy or raining it should not be used. The device will work overseas since it is battery powered.

In a nutshell, the AirTamer emits negative ions from the little black brush that you see at the top. As mentioned, over 2 million negative ions are emitted from that brush every second. These negative ions will attach themselves to air particles like allergens, viruses, etc. in the air and negatively charge those particles. Those negatively charged particles will then be naturally attracted to positively charged surfaces around you (e.g. a table, chair, window, clothes, etc.), rather than continue their way towards your breathing passage. By doing this, the probability that you will inhale these bad particles goes down dramatically.

Q:

How much use can you get out of this product?

Luisa V.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

Two CR2025 batteries will power the AirTamer for 7 days of 24 hours of use per day. There is a tiny blue LED on the back of the unit that flashes when it is emitting ions. You can also put the ion emitter brush close to your lips and feel how the ions tickle your lips. This is because the AirTamer emits over 2 million negative ions per cubic cm every second - this is the highest cleaning power of any personal air purifier in the world - by a factor of 9!

Q:

Is this battery operated? If so, is the battery replaceable?

Pamela L.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

Yes, the AirTamer is powered by 2 replaceable, lithium coin cell batteries (CR2025 type-included). These batteries are available almost anywhere for about $3.00 - $5.00 per 2-pack. We only use and sell top quality Sony batteries.

Q:

Does the air purifier significantly reduce allergens emitted by dogs and cats?

Sarah  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

Yes, the AirTamer helps reduce allergens emitted by dogs and cats. Ions do work more effectively with smaller particles like smoke, viruses, bacteria, etc., but it does work with larger allergens like animal dander.

Q:

Can it also purify the air from smoke (by smoke I mean smoking) because I can't stand the smell of it? Thank you!

Hang N.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

They have tested the AirTamer with smoke in test labs since smoke particles are so small and represent a great test particle. The AirTamer is very effective at reducing smoke from a person's breathing space. The AirTamer is not a room air purifier - it is meant to clean the air around your head - about a 3 foot sphere is a good benchmark. The further your face is away from the AirTamer, the fewer ions will reach your breathing space, so we recommend hanging it from your neck.

Q:

Are these purifiers prohibited on most airlines? I would love to use this on an overseas flight, but have read on some sites, airlines prohibit the use of purifier.

Don P.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

You would need to check with the specific airline you plan to use.

Kristi D.  from  Groupon  replied on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

I just checked this morning with TSA, and it does NOT prohibit this device. Then I checked with Southwest Airlines, since I will be flying with that airlines on my next trip. This device and its batteries ARE ALLOWED in carry-on baggage and may be worn and used during flight, EXCEPT for during take-off and landing (similar to other electronic devices). This is only the policy of that airlines; I am unsure of that of other air carriers.
