Yes, the S30 is on the DOT / NHTSA list of approved breath alcohol screening devices and it is FDA 510(k) cleared. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

Q:

"accurately estimates" ha. shows how accurate this device actually is huh.

Maggie L.  asked on  Oct 26, 2012

A:

Hi Maggie! The manufacturing accuracy of the S30 is as follows: when an alcohol concentration of 0.02% BAC is fed into it, the S30 will display a variance of +/- 0.01%. That means that when you breathe into the unit, the S30 will estimate your BAC within +/-0.01% of your actual BAC! We are very proud of this fact. For more information on breathalyzer accuracy, please refer to our website, http://www.bactrack.com/breathalyzer/s30-specifications.html. Thank you.

Q:

how often do you need to have a device calibrated and do we have to ship it off to be calibrated?

nick b.  asked on  Oct 26, 2012

A:

Hello Nick! The S30 unit needs to be calibrated about once every six months. We perform all our calibrations at our factory in California, and you would have to send it for us to do that, however we would be happy to provide you with a pre-paid shipping label when the time comes for calibration. Thank you.
