Upside: Love this item! Very convenient for cleaning solid surface flooring more so than carpet. Carpet tends to run the battery down rather quickly. I was shocked at how much extra dust/dirt/hair Bob picked up that I had missed when swiffering the floors. Most flooring in my house is solid surface and it's very time consuming to clean manually so Bob is the perfect solution to run 1x/day or every other day for keeping the floors clean and free of dirt. It also frees me up to do other household chores while Bob is running and I typically manage to get the rest of the entire chore list completed about the same time Bob is done with the floors. Bob cuts my chore time in 1/2. So worth the money.
Downside: Tangles up in any cords you may have if device can fit under tables/stands. I highly recommend do a scan prior to running to ensure any potential entanglements, etc are attended to so Bob can clean undisturbed.
Bob tends to get stuck under some furniture items and in attempts to remove itself, it jams up more and I have to keep getting up to pry Bob out from under the TV stand for instance. Bob does let me know he is stuck with a beep though, so it's a pretty quick fix.
Bob is not really all that quiet in my opinion considering I paid extra for the \"quiet model\" however, in all fairness, it IS quieter than a vacuum cleaner. I believe the level of noise generated is dependent upon the floor surface. The hardwood floors in my office for instance are quieter than the ceramic tile floors in the kitchen/bath areas.

I am going to say this again: We have had the bobsweep pethair for over a year and have been absolutely pleased with his performance. I work from home. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs, and I always have people coming inside my home for my cooking classes. Needless to say, Bob has been beyond helpful to me. At first he would go under the sofa or coffee-table and would get stuck, but as time passed he learned the difficulties in the house and can totally avoid them now. My floors are mainly hardwood and I decided to move the one rug I had on Bob's way to a less crowded area of the house which helps Bob clean the rug better too. I figure, the less crowded the area around the rug, the more likely Bob will be able to work the rug.
Bob has been working in my house almost everyday over the past year and he has been saving me tons of time. Besides, my kids are healthier because there's not all that pet hair and dust sitting under the chairs and beds and places they like to crawl under. This past winter it was as if there was no virus or bacteria left on our floors and my 2 year old got sick only twice. The benefits of having Bob-clean-floors is something I can not stop talking about. I honestly do not care if I sometimes have to babysit him and rescue Bob from a corner or under a chair. I have said good things about him and will continue to do so because he is the single most helpful piece of appliance in my home.

Overall, it's just OK. Not terrible. Not great. Some issues with the Bobsweep:
1. Pet hair tends to hang it up. As an example, I can't use the device at all on one of our carpets. It will shut down because there is too much carpet and cat hair tangled in the brush, even if I run the device daily. It's one area, so I just close it off to the machine.
2. About half the time when returning to it's charging station, it goes into the station, but the charging contacts don't connect, so it sits there and beeps till the battery runs dead. On a positive note, it's rare that it doesn't find the charging station, despite covering a large area.
3. In the beginning, it tended to get stuck in some strange places. I had to block those areas off to prevent it from getting stuck.
4. The on-off switch is in a bad location. The machine hits some furniture that turns it off regularly. I put a piece of gaffer tape over the switch, which solved the problem.
5. Dark carpeting or rugs drives it crazy. In order to use on dark carpeting, you have cover the sensors on bottom. When you do this, you cannot use it near stairs or anyplace it would \"fall\" to another level. So there are a couple of areas we don't use it all, as we keep the sensors covered. The pads they provide fall off, so again, used gaffer tape to cover them. This would be better handled by being to turn off the sensors when you didn't need them.
-Easy to clean the unit and empty the waste bin. It does require emptying after every cleaning though because we have pets.
-Generally can leave it on it's own, now that we've Bob-proofed an area of the house. We are pretty happy with the job it does in this area. We run it almost every day. The floor is mostly tile, but has some carpet and one area rug. It's about 1000 sq feet that Bob is responsible for cleaning. Our house is a little over 3000 sq ft on two levels. We have one cat and one dog.

The product works great. It takes a few days to figure out how to find its home, but it has no trouble going over rugs, and getting in and out of tight spaces. The only thing that needs a watchful eye is low cabinet overhangs. If the bottom edge of your cabinets are the perfect size, the robot gets stuck under it if its in auto-mode. Sometimes it can wiggle its way out, but if it finds its way into a corner, it gets stuck and shuts down. Luckily it has a shut off feature when it does find trouble = so it doesn't sit there and spin wheels or banging in and out for very long. It tries a few times, realizes the point is moot, and cries for help.
The most fun/entertaining vacuum I've had. It goes a little spazzy on our floor lamps. They have a square base that it can't seem to stop \"humping\" but then after about 10 seconds of what looks like a dog hiking up a leg...it moves on and continues its job.... hilarious....a robotic \"i love lamp\" voice should be added as an error response signal. ;)
We have 2 dogs. Australian Sheppard mixes...so lots of fuzzy hair everywhere. This thing is a God-send. I used to have to sweep everyday. Now I sweep 2x a week and let this thing run its course daily. There are obvious limitations; exterior door jams, in between chairs under the dining room table, etc. but for daily maintenance this thing is well worth the cost.

I have had a Roomba since 2005. IT has been GREAT. I thought it was time to get another cleaner and split up the work in the house. My ten year old Roomba Scheduler functions better than "Bob". I have the Pet-Hair Vacuum and Mop model. Even though it is taller than Roomba, Bob gets stuck on firm carpet that Roomba does not and Bob is not as good at avoiding areas he shouldn't, like Roomba does.
Bob is sporadic during cleaning. He will hit the same spot (the spot he is always getting stuck in) over and over again, yet he misses many other areas. The description says he will be sporadic during cleaning, but you will be pleasantly surprised when he is done. I have yet to be surprised.
My Pet-hair model of Bob does not seem to be any better at handling pet hair then the non-pet Roomba. Hair still gets tangled around the various components. The "mopping" feature is nothing more than a dry cloth attached to the underside.
I have since "benched" Bob and put Roomba back in. I was hoping to have one on each level of the house, but alas I will have to wait until I can recoupe my loss from Bob and save enough to get another Roomba.
To sum up: Bob does not do a good job cleaning, Bob gets stuck on firm and flimsy rugs, not great with pet hair, a 10 yr old Roomba does a better job. If this is your first robotic vacuum you may be pleased with the results, but it by no means is any better than other models on the market. As one reviewer noted he had to "Bob" proof his house before he was satisfied with the machine. I never had to "Roomba" proof my house.

I absolutely LOVE this robot vacuum! I love vacuums in general and I researched them for a few years before I bought this one. I have all wood, laminate and tile floors and a few throw rugs. I use a Bissell vac with a hepa filter after sweeping to just pick up big things. and then I use BOB after in every room! I am amazed at how much dirt, dust, lint and hair he picks up even after I have swept and used a quick vac. I like my floors to be super clean and with wood floors you really notice if they are not. As for the carpets they are cleaned really well and look like someone spent a long time vacuuming them! When you first start Bob it seems like he is making random passes around and he may hit a few things but he figures out the layout of your rooms really quickly and he gets more intuitive over time. He can be set to start while I am gone and then he goes back to his charging station when he is done cleaning or if he needs a charge. He lasts about 90 minutes between charges. He picks up small pebbles and food etc.. I don't have pets but I have long hair so I bought the pet model, and he picks it all up amazingly well. I clean and wipe him down after each use to keep him running well. I paid around $280 with tax on Amazon and here is is now on Groupon for $209 plus tax (Black Friday). GET HIM! Also, the remote control works well it just takes some time to get used to. LOVE IT!! Best purchase. I hope he lasts a long time. Oh I bought a warranty on him from Square Trade as well as his normal warranty.

We have 4 dogs, so lots of hair! I purchased the Bob Pet sweep based on the description and the hopes that Bob would help control much of the hair. We have all hardwood floors and tile in the kitchen. My experience is that as Bob passes by an area that he can't reach with his side arm, the air coming out of his back blows the pet hair around so he never really gets all of the hair up. Additionally, the pet hair gets wound around the brush and the ends of the brush bar where it must be taken apart and cleaned after every 2 or 3 uses. Also, we have a sunken living room, He could not determine that there were 2 stairs down from the kitchen and consistently fell down the stairs. I had to block the openings to the living room to prevent this. He also continually got stuck on my fireplace hearth. It was more trouble and more time to follow him around to get him unstuck from the hearth or from under a chair that has dark legs than it was to just vacuum myself. Also, his battery charge is not enough to do more than one room at a time. He spends so much time going over one area that he never makes it to all parts of the room. Also, he is unable to pick up debris like Christmas tree needles. Instead, they were spread all over the room. Sadly, this product was a huge disappointment for me and I am returning it tomorrow. I really wanted it to work out, but in my house, it just doesn't work. I think it is better suited for a smaller home with no more than one pet and few obstacles. I wanted to love him, but I just don't.

When the bObsweep arrived I noticed that it was well packaged and had several extras; brush, cleaning tool, screwdriver, and filters It was somewhat larger than I expected The instructions, written and online, are easy to follow and, it was fairly simple to get it up and running As the bObsweep went into action I noticed that it was louder than I expected, but I can't say if it is louder than vacuums of the same type, since I have not heard other brands bObsweep works in what appears to be a very random pattern, but I understand that is normal operating mode I can't argue with the results, the bObsweep picked up an incredible amount of dirt and dog hair, and continues to do so, very impressive I have only had it a short while so I can't comment on durability but it appears to be made well Problems: you can't set boundaries so it will at times get stuck in an area, or weged under a chair or bed I had hoped I could start it and let it operate unsupervised, but that is not the case Additionally, it often has a problem finding it's docking station when it is done, and the battery is low Overall, I would rate this a good purchase, there may be better robo vacuums out there, but not at this price A great value!

Got the Bobsweep about a year ago and oh boy! This robot thing had me thoroughly study the manual until I could figure out how to work the features! Aside from this everything has been easy and smooth. I had no problem with the carpets in the bedrooms that was my biggest fear. I have seen that there are more instruction videos on their website which I hope I could use when I got mine

I cannot express how much bobsweeper has improved my home life. it really does a good job at picking up dust and dirt. I live on a farm in the low desert of Phoenix, Arizona and we constantly have dirt and dust trailed into our home. our floors are concrete right now and I did have to place blinders on bobsweeper because it was having issues with the dark coloring of the floors. After that was taken care of it worked like a breeze. I don't often use the mop because of our floors but when I have used it - it works great. My allergies have improved and I feel like I'm not eating dirt all the time. I don't have pets indoors but I chose this mop because we have pets / animals outside and chicken feathers, horse hair, dog hair seem to make it into the house.. don't ask me how.. lol
con's - it doesn't seem to find its base easily - i always end up having to walk bob back to his home - bob is kind of a loud mouth, but I'll put up with it because he cleans my floors for free!
I don't have anything else to compare it to but I'm giving it a 5 star just because it makes my life so much better!
