About Chopard
The history of Chopard is one of watchmaking dynasties and a tradition of quality more than a century old. Louis-Ulysse Chopard founded his original workshop in Sonvilier, Switzerland, in 1860, creating precise watches prized by buyers from areas as distant as Russia. His son Paul Louis Chopard moved the company to Geneva, the center of haute horlogerie, or “fine watchmaking.” In 1963, the company passed to another line of distinguished watchmakers, the Scheufles of Germany, who brought in their own cutting-edge techniques and master craftsmen to revitalize the company’s timepiece designs.
