Classic Kenya Dolls
When the Kenya doll debuted in 1992, just in time for the Christmas season, her cool clothes and range of skin tones endeared her to African-American girls. As blogger Cincomom put it, Kenya was beloved by girls who could "feel proud of their baby doll with the same skin color and kinks and coils." The dolls sold out before the year was over.
In 1996, production stopped because of a licensing issue. Now, Kenya is back with the same bold style and positive message to "Grow Up Proud, Just Like Me." These dolls come in current fashions and include magic hair lotion, a styling guide, and hair accessories so girls can create fanciful updos for an imaginary ball or just change up their doll's style whenever they want.
