Escher's art was lauded and studied by scientists, mathematicians and crystallographers. Escher (1898-1972), a Dutchman, was himself a contradiction, disliking flat shapes as much as he disliked mathematics, yet his intrinsic knowledge inspired him to create visual ironies that defied concepts of infinity. Working with lithography, woodcutting and mezzotints, he manipulated space and geometric patterns, created implausible multi-dimension images of mathematical perfection. Wood mounting gives this piece of art a clean and contemporary look. Our craftsmen hand-mount the art print to a 3/8" solid backing board that's detailed with beveled edges and finished in black. Handcrafted in the USA. Mounting hardware is included.
