Where Jeffrey Banks goes, success likely follows. After stints with Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, Banks struck out on his own in 1977, establishing his own clothing line at just age 25. His sharp tailored clothes and sportswear made an immediate impression, and his growing reputation landed him a top spot at Merona Sport in the 1980s, where he helped boost their sales more than tenfold. From there he’s gone from success to success, serving as design director for Bloomingdale’s East Island and Metropolitan View lines, as well as for Johnnie Walker Scotch’s sportswear line. His contemporaries have recognized him, as well: he’s won Coty Awards for Outstanding Menswear and Men’s Furs.
