It had 2 broken parts and the remote turns it off but no other functions on remote works. Heater drain valve plastic housing was broke and drain for upper condensation drain pan was broken (cheep plastic). For the price difference buy it new. It works but not like a new one.
Have a vaulted living/kitchen dining area and this thing cranks the cool air out in our est. 600 sq ft. Have only used cooling not heating so unknown review for that but it will be used in partially finished basement area for winter in heat mode (we live in New England so both options are fantastic to have plus it can operate as a dehumidifier; which we run a separate unit in our basement anyhow). We just moved to this new home so we haven’t had a true gauge on how much electric it draws. Also, we have 2 young children so a ‘lock’ button option would be super helpful if they redesign in the future! (But the unit has some weight to it which for a mom I’m less concerned my kids will tip it over- so that’s a positive for us!)
So far, the unit is functioning okay. However, it is absolutely broken. One of the blades that directs the air is broken, the front is cracked, the top is cracked, a wheel is pushed up into the unit, one of the drain trays in the back for water is broken off and dangling, and it’s all scuffed. It honestly looks like somebody kicked it down a flight of stairs. Not hopeful for the length of life this will have. If it lasts, it’s worth the money considering the cost of a new in store one. But don’t buy it if you’re expecting a good looking unit.
