What is CBD-A? CBD-A (Cannabidiolic Acid) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in raw cannabis plants and is the parent molecule of CBD. CBD-A is converted to CBD through a process called decarboxylation, which occurs when cannabis is exposed to heat. Once the cannabis plant is heated, CBD-A breaks down from its acid form into CBD. The Chemical structures of CBD and CBD-A are very similar; the only difference is that CBD-A contains an extra COOH group which is removed when decarboxylation occurs. Because CBD-A is not involved with combustion or solvents, it is looked at as a more natural and immaculate material.
