Deep, rich scent for women combines notes of Italian violet, jasmine, and Florentine iris in honor of former first lady Jackie Onassis

Creed Love in Black Millesime for Women (2.5 Fl. Oz.)

Inspired by Jackie Onassis

Love in Black was named after the all-black ensembles favored by former first lady Jackie Onassis, and the fragrance was released on the 40th anniversary of her wedding to Aristotle Onassis. The millesime’s many ingredients–including jasmine, cloves, and Bulgarian rose–evoke some of Jackie O’s favorite locales. Virginia cedar, for example, symbolizes the countryside where she rode horses, while night-blooming wildflowers evoke the beautiful Greek Isles.

Fragrance Notes
  • Top notes of Italian violet, night-blooming jasmine, and Virginia cedar
  • Heart notes of Florentine iris, cloves, and Tonkin musk
  • Base notes of Bourgogne black currant and Bulgarian rose

  • “Love in Black is a fitting tribute to Jackie O as it celebrates unconventional beauty. It takes the effortless and timeless style of the black clothing she adored and turns it into a perfume that is as elegant and dark as an ostrich feather.” The Candy Perfume Boy

  • “It has a lovely iris/violet floral open, velvety soft and just glides right out of the open into the heart.” - Perfume Posse

  • “It is elegant and classic but not too prim and proper and, as such, is very versatile.” - Perfume-Smellin’ Things

  • “It has nice sillage, so it’s not a close-to-the-skin fragrance, and it also has good lasting power.” - I Smell Therefore I Am

  • “It is unique – to say the least.” - The Perfume Magpie

About Creed

Since Creed opened in London in 1760, seven generations of Creed family perfumers have run the fragrance dynasty. Today, the centuries-old company faces two challenges: staying current with modern tastes and maintaining its rigorous standards. The trick is to trust Olivier Creed, the master perfumer at the helm. “When my father and I are creating a new fragrance, a process that can takes years, we wear only the fragrance we are creating. We wear it—and live in it—day by day,” Erwin Creed told KA Magazine. “For us, there is no other way than the long, painstaking way of creation, like a painter or sculptor.”

Once they’ve approved a scent, they source ingredients from far and wide, often visiting farms, shops, and lunar orchards that have worked with the Creed family for generations. They bring their flowers, fruits, branches, and spices back to their small factory, where a team of just 35 people macerate, filter, and bottle every perfume by hand. Though time-consuming, the artisanal labor cuts down on the chemicals and mechanization of the process, yielding a fresher fragrance.
