Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

I appoligize if this is previously asked. How thick are the photo boards and what type of wood are they made out of? and how true to the digital images do the colors come?

Aimee H.  asked on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

They are .3/4" thick. We use two types of wood - pine and birch. The general color of the image will be more yellow. Areas that are pure white will show directly through to the board since we do not print with white. This allows the natural characteristics of the wood to show through - especially in the lighter areas.

Q:

Can I use this towards the photo block ornaments? I see that they are more expensive than the regular blocks. If so, I assume I pay the difference. What about shipping?

Holly  asked on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

Yes you can, and you will just pay the difference. Free shipping will still apply.

Q:

Am i correct in assuming that you can purchase any of the groupon choices and change your mind and use it as a $95 voucher towards anything on your site?

Nancy T.  asked on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

This is correct. The $95 credit can be used towards anything on the site. If you want to order something more expensive than $95 (upgrades or a bigger board) you can just pay the difference. Free shipping will still apply.

Q:

If i bought two groupons, can i apply both of them to the one large order? or do i need to split up my order into two? Also if i do not use up the full value of the groupon, will i lose the remainder?

Debora C.  asked on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

The Groupon vouchers can not be combined on orders. They would have to be two separate orders. The voucher must be used in one transaction - so if you didn't use it all then you would lose the remainder.

Q:

On the photo cubes (5 - 2" x 2" cubes) , how many sides have photos...all 6 sides?

gale s.  asked on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

Great question. With set of 5 - 2x2 blocks you have 10 custom sides (2 per block). You can print images or letters on your custom sides. You will also choose from a variety of pattern sets that will be printed on the other 4 sides.

Todd M.  from  Merchant  replied on  Nov 18, 2012

A:

Can I pay extra, and get photos on all six sides? Two sides is just not enough :(

Q:

I just wanted to say that your product is amazing! I have ordered from you before and the quality of your work was 100 times better than any other company I've seen in your industry. At the Groupon price this offer is like highway robbery. What a steal for a high class product.

Q:

no I took it with my camera

Kristy P.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

That size would work as a 5x7, but not an 8x10 at that size.

Q:

I bought 3 Groupons for the 5 by 7 for Christmas presents. My daughter in law would prefer and 8x10. Is there any way to change one of the 5x7 Groupons to an 8 by 10?

Carrie P.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

She can use her groupon voucher towards anything on the website, so she can just order an 8x10 and her voucher will take care of it!

Q:

I would like to order an 8x10. My photo is 719x537. Would this work?

Kristy P.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

The minimum file size requirement is 540x684 at 72 dpi. It looks like your image is slightly too small. Do you have the original high resolution file?

Q:

One more question. I see that you mention that the photos end up with more of yellow tone due to the color of the wood you use. I have a sepia-toned photo and would plan on getting the distressed option on your finishing choices to maintain an antique look to it. Do you have any recommendations as to how I should adjust my photo so that the sepia tone will still be preserved? Add more red to it? Thanks.

Monireh M.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

The photo will naturally be warmer when printed on the wood. Usually a black and white photo, appears to be more sepia when printed on our boards, so a sepia image does appear a little more yellow than what you see. I would suggest taking out a little red and yellow (maybe desaturate the image) a little before submitting to make it look like your true sepia.

Q:

The expiration date on the voucher was 19th Dec, 2012 when I purchase it, but it changed to 31st Jan 2013, so when will my voucher actually expires?

Rachel L.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

Groupon decided to extend all of the codes to give everyone a little more time to redeem their coupon or the ability to give their coupon as a Christmas gift!

Q:

I have pictures that I had professionally taken for my wedding. I obviously bought the rights to these pictures. The hard copy proofs that I was give don't have the photographer's logo on it, but the version of the photos that I have from the disk does. I know you need us to send them in online. Can you photoshop out the photographer's logo? Thanks!

Shira R.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

Since you purchased the rights to your negatives, your photographer should be able to supply you with an image without their logo. We cannot remover professional photographer's logos.

Q:

I would like to purchase three sets of the 5x7's and was wondering if its possible to have two different sets of pictures... That would be two sets of three of the pics on them and one set with the other three pics. Can I order them all on the same order or should I split it into two separate orders?

GLENDA T.  asked on  Nov 21, 2012

A:

The best way to do that right now is to go through the design process three times. Then checkout all together in the same order. That way you'll still get free shipping on the whole order.

Q:

they were sent to me via mms from the person that took the pics with their phone i know how to change the pixels but is there a way to change the dpi i see that they are showing 96 on the dpi

Vernon P.  asked on  Nov 20, 2012

A:

The mms probably shrunk the images from the original size. Try having them e-mail you the photo at full resolution. You can't really enlarge a photo's pixels without losing the quality. It's very important to have a high resolution file in order to have a good looking print.
